If your baby liked "Feliz Navidad," they may also like...

My 9 month old baby likes it when I sing to him, but I am horrible at remembering song lyrics. He's a fan of "Feliz Navidad," which is cool because it has about 20 words to remember and the Spanish keeps him interested. What other happy, easy-to-remember songs should I learn the lyrics to and sing? English, Spanish, and German are all in my wheelhouse.

How did we get from "tax haven" to "tax heaven" to "tax hell"?

Has anyone come across good sources on the history and evolution of the term "tax haven"? I am looking for sources detailing at least its first appearance in written or spoken English, and if possible the date in which it was (wrongly) translated into French as "tax heaven" (paradis fiscal). The alternate 'Testament of Doctor Mabuse' - Fritz Lang's German and French versions

Having recently learned that Fritz Lang filmed an entirely different, French language, version of The Testament of Doctor Mabuse alongside the 'original' German version, I set out to find it. The only way to get hold of it seems to be via the Criterion DVD, but this is a Region 1 (NTSC) release only. Where else can I get a copy of the alternate Mabuse? Preferably as either a download or as a Region 2 (PAL) release [more inside]

HELP me help a TEACHER!

Help me help a TEACHER! I have a friend who has 25 years experience teaching French and German in a private school. She's a talented and extremely hard-working teacher, but receives little support, compensation (low-pay), and respect from the school's all male administrators. She feels very stuck-- and unable to change her situation. If she switched over to public schools, she'd likely have to start over, in terms of retirement years put in. And, like most teachers, she takes a LOT of work home-- and puts in 8-12 hours every weekend grading papers and even offering free tutoring. All of this is NOT compensated. She does it because she's diligent and loves her kids. I've been trying to convince her that her skills are VALUABLE and the PRIVATE SECTOR would love to have her language skills. AM I WRONG? Are there jobs in the corporate / non-profit / NGO fields which could use her French / German teaching / translation skills? I thank you and she'll thank you-- if we can help her get out of a dead-end job!
