My girlfriend is going to be spending the next week in hospital- nothing too serious, but definitely a little frightening!- and I want to spend a lot of time hanging out with her, looking after her and making a boring time a little bit fun. What are some things we can do to pass the long hours?

Hi. I am looking for short clips, simple games and odd divertisements to play with my 21 old month baby on the computer. She has the normal short attention span that kids her age have, and is pretty proficient already with the mouse and with her iPad.
Here are some of the things that currently amuse her (your suggestions do not have to be anything like these):
Snake in the grass,
Kaleidoscope,
Dog
and
another,
Gifs,
Fireworks,
Cyriak,
hair,
Fisher-Price,
Elephants swimming, etc.

Classic Mac Game Filter: You write a screenplay synopsis and try to market your movie. I remember pulling this one off an old MacAddict CD-ROM back in the day. Maybe you remember it?

Descriptive video for the blind and visually impaired... for videogames? Does this exist? I’d like to do it. I know there are a million videos of people playing videogames around, but I'd like to do ones tailored for people who can't see.

I'm trying to remember the name of a piece of Interactive Fiction (IF) I once played, but remember almost nothing about. You start the game, sleeping next to your lover--and you can decide the gender of both your character and the lover--in what is essentially a hunting lodge. Your character can do something like shift into other times or other identities--I can't quite remember. I recall that it is supposed to be very long by normal IF standards. Any help?

I'm after some 2 player LAN Mac games. The answers to
this previous question don't hit the spot. Cannot rely on speed or dexterity (so no FPS), timers are also out. I have Hedgewars but word games or well-executed card games would be excellent as would strategy (not Frozen Synapse) with a good learning curve. From searches it seems the Mac is neglected in this area.

Educational videogames tend to be aimed at children and/or not much fun to play (and/or both). "Typing of the Dead" is a great exception. Are there other truly addictive videogames a grownup can enjoy while learning something? The subject being taught is irrelevant-- I'd just love for my gaming time to result in some sort of useful skill.

After spending more time on them than he should, my 7 year old has decided that he wants to make his own flash game. I have done the obligatory googling without finding anything obviously suitable.
Are there any applications out there (free or $) designed or suited for kids? I don't imagine that he will be making anything from scratch, but assume there are some drag and drop applications out there with which he can have fun. Thanks.

I've got a memory of seeing a long list of books, either recommended reading or as acknowleged sources of material, in an early edition of the Warhammer 40K rulebook. In my recollection it neatly sumarised all the works that influenced WH40k. Did this actually exist? What were the books on the list?
