looking for recommendations of point and click games

I've always hated playing point-and-click games because of the lack of logic to the puzzles, but I recently loved playing Yesterday on my tablet. The story pulled me in and the puzzles (mostly) made sense. Now I need more... Can anyone recommend something similar, either on android or windows?

What are good coop games for tweens on iOS for a road trip?

What games would tweens (11-13) like to play together on an iPad or coop with their own iPods during a road trip? Are there other non-electronic games you recommend for road tripping? We have Rubberneckers, which is fun up to a point, as is the alphabet game. There are only so many DVDs they will watch. They've both got iThingies, but I'd like for them to interact with each other and/or us rather than be nose-deep in their own screens, oblivious to the world. Family time and such.

Fixing an XBOX I just bought off eBay

So after years of using roommates' machines, and having finished a well-paying highly stressful recent job, I rewarded myself by buying an XBox Slim off of eBay. Which I guess was foolish of me. The thing arrived with only the 4GB hard drive, so I had to buy a decent-sized one in order for it to do anything, and even then it started freezing nearly constantly. If left off overnight it will start up and work for maybe an hour before freezing at first, and then quickly degrade to the point where it can't even start up properly. [more inside]

I recently picked up a cheap used Playstation 3. I'm entirely new to console gaming but have played PC games for many years. What older, must-not-miss games are there for the system? I've heard about Uncharted 3 and Red Dead Redemption. Others?

Games to play on a train ride with a small child?

What are some good games to play on a long train ride with a small child (age 4)? The ipad makes him motion-sick. He gets frustrated with drawing or dot-to-dot because of the bumpy movement of the train. We have audiobooks but they won't cover the whole ride.

Permanent lawn games?

We are looking to install a permanent lawn game in our front yard (well hidden from street). We have basically enough room to put in a badminton court, and will likely do that. Unless we get a more awesome idea from you guys! Please share any suggestions. We are not willing to install grass for this. It will be either on hard clay soil, sand, gravel or pavers. I want to make sure I have collected any potentially awesome ideas before I put I all the work. Thanks!

Sci-fi/mecha shareware RPG game, but I cannot remember the name or URL

There is a shareware sci-fi/mecha RPG game that a previous room-mate introduced me to. I don't remember the name of the game, but it was shareware, PC/Windows, and very extensive. I have no idea how to get ahold of the person whom introduced me to the game, hence I'm at a loss of how to find it again. [more inside]

Can I install an XBox 360 Arcade Demo from a disc to my hard drive?

The Xbox 360 Arcade game Alan Wake's American Nightmare just went on sale, so I purchased it. I have very limited bandwidth on my Internet plan, though. I do have a demo of the game that came with an Official XBox 360 Magazine coverdisc. Usually, when I have a demo of a game all I need to do to unlock the full game is pay for it, without any additional download. There doesn't seem to be any way to install the demo from the disc to my Xbox's hard drive, though. I do have enough space. Is there any way I can install the game demo from the disc to the harddrive? I haven't modded my Xbox in any way.

I'm trying to play the SNES version of Shiren the Wanderer, with the English translation patch, on a Mac. The ROM without the patch works fine. When I put the patch in the same directory with the same base filename (the procedure for using a patch), the ROM loads and hangs. I'm using SNES9X as my emulator. Has anyone gotten this working? I'm willing to try any emulator.

What is a good programming tool for developing RPG games?

I want to develop an RPG game based on a non-popular, out of print tabletop RPG - the game I'm developing will be for PC/Mac/(possibly mobile). So far, I'm looking into RPG Maker, which seems to be able to fit the bill most appropriately. I've also looked at Titanium for developing mobile games, but this seems like it's not necessarily a good fit for just hitting the ground running. Any ideas are welcome - priorities are that the system is flexible for development and is easy to begin with (I'm cool with advanced features, but don't want to have to hack the system in order to merely start bringing my ideas to fruition).

I used to play a lot of PC games, but in the past 10 years moved towards console gaming. I realise I've missed a whole era of games that only really work with a mouse and keyboard. My absolute favourites were creative, engaging, long play games, such as Rollercoaster Tycoon and Civilization. I never really played to win. I played for creative ends. Good video games where spectators can participate?

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed playing Walking Dead together. I controlled it, but she made all the dialogue choices and helped solve puzzles. What are some other games like that? She's not really a gamer and doesn't really get FPS controls (yet) so stuff like co-op portal and even minecraft is out. I'm going to try and see how it goes with Braid next, but are there any other games like Walking Dead where people who aren't actively controlling it can help make meaningful decisions or contributions? I was also thinking Heavy Rain, but I don't have a Playstation, only a pc and Xbox.
