I find that video game soundtracks are particularly good background music for programming, but I rarely have time to play new games and discover new music. In the past, I have enjoyed the Superbrothers soundtrack, the soundtrack to Hotline Miami, FTL, certain tracks from Kentucky Route Zero, and the last Deus Ex Machina. Can you recommend post-2014 video game soundtracks that help you to achieve a state of flow?
Hola hivemind, I'm a longtime Unity user who's making the jump to Unreal for at least the next 6 months. I'd describe myself as a competent programmer, although my role is often as a hack-y designer. I'd like to know what the pitfalls are when moving between Unity and Unreal as well as C# and C++. [more inside]
I make Windows videogames, and my latest engine doesn't let you select screen resolutions. I could change it so it does, but I'd rather make a small program that first lets you choose resolution (and set fullscreen and such), then launches the game app. But then wait (I said in my head), hasn't someone already created this launcher tool? Please help me out. Have they? [more inside]
Do you know of a program like First Lego League, but for game design? This is for some 12-year-olds who are into programming, and could benefit from more structure. [more inside]
A friends teenage (16) son is considering skipping university and instead training themselves to be a programmer, with a particular interest in making games. Assuming he's starting from scratch what would be some good cheap or free resources to get him started? Both in terms of getting the basics and allow him to work on a game-related project that might hold his interest?
I want to develop an RPG game based on a non-popular, out of print tabletop RPG - the game I'm developing will be for PC/Mac/(possibly mobile). So far, I'm looking into RPG Maker, which seems to be able to fit the bill most appropriately. I've also looked at Titanium for developing mobile games, but this seems like it's not necessarily a good fit for just hitting the ground running. Any ideas are welcome - priorities are that the system is flexible for development and is easy to begin with (I'm cool with advanced features, but don't want to have to hack the system in order to merely start bringing my ideas to fruition).

I want to write a text-heavy story-based RPG. I'm familiar with scripting languages like python and ruby, but I have no art talent whatsoever, so i'd prefer that whatever I use have art assets available, and I don't want to write an engine from scratch so I'd like to build off of an existing framework. What are my options? Free or paid, doesn't matter. It might be an RPG engine or an adventure game engine, or even a 3d engine, but whatever I use, I'd want something that would let me focus on writing and designing and less on programming the framework.
