What is the most fun I can have with a PC and a gamepad? I'm looking for something reasonably modern (probably not more than 5 years old) and polished that delivers uncomplicated arcade style gameplay with the absolute minimum of fiddling about or frustration. [more inside]

I'm looking for a very simple USB gamepad. It should have a d-pad, no analog sticks, and as few action buttons as possible, ideally only two. Current trends in gamepads are packing them ever-tighter with buttons, so I despair of finding a gamepad with less than 8 buttons and triggers. Any ideas? [more inside]

I'm building a video game emulation machine. What would be the best USB gamepad I could buy that would work with Linux? I don't have anything newer than Genesis/SNES games, so it only really needs six face buttons and two shoulder buttons. I really (really) liked the Xbox 360 controllers when I tried them at E3, but I don't want to wait until they're available. I also like the X-Arcade, but I don't think I could excuse the pricetag.
