Teeny tiny GPS?

My 7 1/2 year old just got glasses. Having been 8-year-olds with glasses ourselves, we know that some level of damage and loss is probably to be expected. We paid for the damage insurance plan, but that won't help if he loses them. What's our best option for a GPS-like device to help us (literally, if possible) keep tabs on them? [more inside]

Which GPS tracker to buy for my 55lb dog

I am interested in feedback from people who have purchased GPS tracking devices for their cat or dogs. Did it work? What is the best feature of your product? What is the worst feature? What other trackers have you tried? I am looking for the best tracker for finding my dog if he disappears on a walk or hike.

GPS trackers exist so I can quickly find my misplaced wallet or phone?

I am forgetfull and keep misplacing my wallet or cell phone and have to waste a lot of time looking for them. Is there some kind of GPS tracker that I can attach to either of these, and then just go to a website to see specifically where it is? Will they be accurate enough to show me where in my house my wallet is? Thanks. p.s. I already know of "find my phone apps".

Settings GPS Data Logger

I would like to use my Old Wintec WBT-201 GPS Data logger to keep track where we are taking pictures. Given the limited storage space on the device I want to minimize the amount of data points that are collected. No need to record speed, direction etc. Its just when we are hiking to log every minute or so our location. I can charge the battery but cant' download the data for 12 day's. Using the "Time Machine" software to access the settings page but am confused about the settings. Any advice?

Trying to track my runs in the most minimal, future-proof way possible

Buying A Burner Smarthphone For A Week In London

What is the best GPS Traffic Receiver?

My husband drives a Tractor Trailer. He has a Rand McNally TND 510, he bought a accessory for it - a Real Time Traffic Receiver that uses FM Radio Stations that currently uses 98 cities in the USA. Street Navigation App for Android Tablet: Italy edition

We spend a few months in Italy each year, and duplicate our lives from Australia over there. Last year we purchased a second-hand car, and find it really useful to use a GPS for navigation. Our TelCo also gave us two Samsung Note 3 Android Tablets. We have smartphones and iPads, and are hoping to use the android tablet in the vehicle for navigation when required. Would Google Maps be the best? There is the provision for SIM cards in the Samsung, however I would probably prefer to link it to a portable hotspot if needed. PREFERABLY a navigation app for Italy which works well off-line. Any suggestions? TIA

Golf GPS Database

Databases of standard golf course information (address, scorecards, etc) are available from providers such as US Golf Data. However I am wondering how companies are able to provide GPS maps of the courses (as can be seen in apps like GolfNow, MobiTee, and GolfShot). These all appear to be separate companies, did they really each do the mapping themselves (isn't this a huge amount of labor?) or is there a known licensor of GPS golf maps? [more inside]

I recently bought one of those Tile things to find your lost keys, things, etc, and they do mention putting one on your pet's collar as a use-case. Androidfilter: can I use my Android's GPS despite not buying a 3G plan?

I own an old Samsung Galaxy SII Android phone. I've recently cancelled its 3G plan, so now it accesses the Internet exclusively through Wifi. This has apparently caused its GPS function to stop working when it's out of range of a Wifi network, which I hadn't expected. Android GPS volume weirdness

I have a Samsung base model phone running whatever the current version of Android is. I like to hook my phone up via headphone jack to an FM transmitter to hear GPS navigation and Spotify streaming. The two used to play well with each other: Spotify would mute whenever the GPS had directions to give. However within the last two weeks the GPS is nearly inaudible when it takes over, while Spotify returns at full volume. I think the problem is that I listen to Spotify at full volume to improve the quality over the FM transmitter, since oherwise you can hear staticy intetference. I've noticed that whenever GPS takes over it pops up a hearing damage warning due to the phone being at full volume. I feel like this happened in a recent update, and is causing the intetoperability problems. Is this likely the case, and can I turn off the hearing protection feature? If not then what else might be causing this?

How can I turn my old iPhone 4 into a great (offline) bike computer?

I have an old iPhone 4 (running iOS 7) that has no sim card. GPS and wifi and all that still work fine and it's got plenty of space. I want to find an app that will allow me to download a big swath of map around my house for offline use, then stick the phone in a bracket on my handlebars and use it as a bike computer to tell me speed, mileage, route, etc. Ideally it would show me where I am on the map as I go, too. I'd gladly pay for the app if it is not free. Is this possible?

How to get a map from Google maps to an Android phone?

The situation: I'm running Android 2.3.5 on my phone, using the Google Maps app version 6.14.4. Via the desktop, I've created a map with custom directions from Point A to Point B.

The problem: I can't find a way to get the map with the edited directions to my phone. I can save the map with the directions to a Google account, which normally would mean that I could log into that Google account on my phone and download it that way. However, I don't have the necessary software on my phone that will enable me to log into a Google account. "Account and Sync settings" is missing. I can't seem to edit directions from within the Google Maps app on my phone, either. [more inside]
