My husband drives a Tractor Trailer. He has a Rand McNally TND 510, he bought a accessory for it - a Real Time Traffic Receiver that uses FM Radio Stations that currently uses 98 cities in the USA. He is disappointed in it, it doesn't seem to help him in traffic like he had hoped. What other GPS units would work better, if any, regarding traffic?
I have a tumblr that I post images to and my backlog of images is piling up because it's a boring slog to post them all. I want to come up with a way to automate the boring parts so that I can focus on the fun parts (taking and categorizing the photos) instead of dreading the process of uploading them all. Special snowflake details inside. [more inside]
We spend a few months in Italy each year, and duplicate our lives from Australia over there. Last year we purchased a second-hand car, and find it really useful to use a GPS for navigation. Our TelCo also gave us two Samsung Note 3 Android Tablets. We have smartphones and iPads, and are hoping to use the android tablet in the vehicle for navigation when required. Would Google Maps be the best? There is the provision for SIM cards in the Samsung, however I would probably prefer to link it to a portable hotspot if needed. PREFERABLY a navigation app for Italy which works well off-line. Any suggestions? TIA
Databases of standard golf course information (address, scorecards, etc) are available from providers such as US Golf Data. However I am wondering how companies are able to provide GPS maps of the courses (as can be seen in apps like GolfNow, MobiTee, and GolfShot). These all appear to be separate companies, did they really each do the mapping themselves (isn't this a huge amount of labor?) or is there a known licensor of GPS golf maps? [more inside]
Tesla, our brindle plott hound mix is very clever and has separation anxiety. I'd like a dog tracking gizmo so I can stop worrying that I'll get dog-has-escaped messages from my awesome neighbors. Recommend me a dog tracker? [more inside]
I recently bought one of those Tile things to find your lost keys, things, etc, and they do mention putting one on your pet's collar as a use-case. It's all bluetooth, so I assume it's only good for ~30ft or so away, but I can't find any reviews of it (or similar things) online. Has anyone ever used one with an outdoor cat? Does it work reliably? [more inside]
I have no problems with Google Maps as a navigation aid. It always finds my exact location and turn by turn directions works perfect. But when I first start the app (so I'm in map mode, not navigation mode), I get a large pale blue circle around my location. [more inside]
I have been trying to figure out how often facebook's nearby friends option updates location, but I'm not having any luck. [more inside]

I want a GPS for geocaching and hiking in areas with no cell phone coverage. The ones I've seen so far look about as up-to-date as my Handspring Visor. Please advise. [more inside]
I own an old Samsung Galaxy SII Android phone. I've recently cancelled its 3G plan, so now it accesses the Internet exclusively through Wifi. This has apparently caused its GPS function to stop working when it's out of range of a Wifi network, which I hadn't expected. I'd like to resume using it as a mobile GPS device without re-purchasing a 3G plan. Do you know whether this can be done? [more inside]
I am an inexperienced driver, and I am about to be taking a number of long road-trips alone across the US this year. To aid me, I am looking for the best GPS that is reasonably priced. Can you recommend one for me? [more inside]
I am going to Ireland. Yay! We forgot to request a GPS with our car rental so I'm bringing mine from home (USA) in case they don't have any when we get there. Unfortunately, my GPS no longer holds a charge and has to be plugged in to work. Will my US cigarette lighter adapter work in an Irish car?
How can I tell Google Maps and GPS navigation systems that there has been a gate across part of my road since the mid-90s? [more inside]
I have a Samsung base model phone running whatever the current version of Android is. I like to hook my phone up via headphone jack to an FM transmitter to hear GPS navigation and Spotify streaming. The two used to play well with each other: Spotify would mute whenever the GPS had directions to give. However within the last two weeks the GPS is nearly inaudible when it takes over, while Spotify returns at full volume. I think the problem is that I listen to Spotify at full volume to improve the quality over the FM transmitter, since oherwise you can hear staticy intetference. I've noticed that whenever GPS takes over it pops up a hearing damage warning due to the phone being at full volume. I feel like this happened in a recent update, and is causing the intetoperability problems. Is this likely the case, and can I turn off the hearing protection feature? If not then what else might be causing this?
I have an old iPhone 4 (running iOS 7) that has no sim card. GPS and wifi and all that still work fine and it's got plenty of space. I want to find an app that will allow me to download a big swath of map around my house for offline use, then stick the phone in a bracket on my handlebars and use it as a bike computer to tell me speed, mileage, route, etc. Ideally it would show me where I am on the map as I go, too. I'd gladly pay for the app if it is not free. Is this possible?
I need a point and shoot camera that meets these three criteria: 1. Mega zoom 2. GPS built in 3. Shoots in raw format. My Google-fu has failed me. Any suggestions?
I'm starting a podcast, and the following (slightly paranoid) thought occurred to me: would people be able to extract information about the location where I recorded and/or uploaded the audio? These will most likely be mp3s, recorded using Garageband on my computer. [more inside]

In addition to the well known sites for tracking Planes and Ships I've recently discovered I can track SHARKS! What other things can be tracked on the internet? I'm specifically keen to see sites with a map of the world (or I suppose a more local region if that is appropriate) with all the things moving around in real time, but any aggregation of real world data would also be interesting.
I'm in the process of finishing the first version of my iOS minimalist Foursquare app. I'm wondering what is the best way to get beta testers for my app. I simply need feedback and ideas for improvement/changes to the app. The app is currently not in the App Store, but I want to make sure I get everything right, just before iOS 7 hits. What is the best way to do so?

The situation: I'm running Android 2.3.5 on my phone, using the Google Maps app version 6.14.4. Via the desktop, I've created a map with custom directions from Point A to Point B. The problem: I can't find a way to get the map with the edited directions to my phone. I can save the map with the directions to a Google account, which normally would mean that I could log into that Google account on my phone and download it that way. However, I don't have the necessary software on my phone that will enable me to log into a Google account. "Account and Sync settings" is missing. I can't seem to edit directions from within the Google Maps app on my phone, either. [more inside]

During the Canada vs USA friendly women's soccer match, many of the Canadian players had a single rectangular shaped protrusion located high between the shoulder blades and under the jersey. What might this be?
I've recently taken up jogging again, this time with an iPhone and the Nike+ app to track my runs. It seems to be pretty sloppy at tracking pace, compared to my old Nike shoe sensor. It's very smoothed out, so doing intervals, for instance, looks like a sine wave instead of a square wave. Are there any solutions that are better at this?
I need to make relatively precise measurements, to the nearest half meter, of locations on my field site, which is on the floor of a Mediterranean cove (not more than 10m deep). One possibility is to swim on the surface above my locations and use a GPS to record the points - but so far my older-model GPS's have not been accurate enough for this. I'm leaving in about a week, and just recently I was reminded that technology may have advanced to meet my needs, even since last year! Can anyone update me on the latest and greatest (waterproof) mapping instruments out there?
Hi Everyone I would like to see a list of all the GPS and Glosnass that my iPhone 5 is receiving with their signal strength. I have searched but cannot find. (This is similar to a app on the Garmin GPS) Thanks BB

Since I'm semiretired now, I've offered to help our local land conservancy plan, map, and develop a new preserve just a mile from my home. One of the tasks will be to map all existing trails and roads on the property. The staff at the conservancy asked that they receive the files in a GPX format. Soooo... I'm looking for an iPhone GPS app (I'm using a 4s running 6.1.2) that will allow me to: Map a hike, indicate and name multiple waypoints, and export the hike as a GPX file. It would also be great if I could attach geotagged photos within the app. Any suggestions? And, if anyone has any experience with this type of activity, is there any function that I'm not thinking of that would be useful? Thanks much!

Is there a current production Garmin GPS unit that is equivalent to the discontinued nuvi 265WT in terms of price and features?
We have been thinking of buying a GPS for our car; but been having a surprisingly difficult time making up our mind (at this point primarily between the Garmin nuvi 50LM GPS navigator and the pricier Garmin nüvi 1450LMT 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator). Would love to have your recommendations/suggestions if you have used either one of them (or a similar product). [more inside]
I'm trying to hack together an OS X script that's dependent upon my location. Problem is, Apple's location services doesn't know where my home router is - and I don't have an iOS device to tell it. Is there any way I can suggest or hint to the server where my IP is located?
