My partner and I have a strong suspicion that he may have ADHD. We're based in the UK and are struggling within the NHS system to get him a diagnosis. He has another medical appointment today and wants me to come in with him. How can I be a good advocate for him (in six hours' time) in what feels like a somewhat broken system? More details inside. I'm looking for a GREAT primary care physician in Washington, DC, preferably in/near Chinatown or Capitol Hill. I'd love someone who could see a new patient in the next week or two (ie, doesn't have a months-long waiting list) and who is part of a larger practice/clinic. [more inside]
Hi! We (husband, wife, child) are moving to London soon (more questions on that to come!) One thing that's really important to me is to be in an area that we can register with a really good GP. I've lived in the UK before, and had hit or miss experiences, and don't want this to happen again -- so much so that I want to suss out the great GPs to help make a decision on where we should live. So, who/where are the awesome GPs in London? Or how else would I go about researching this?
OK, I know how to make an appointment with a GP, but I need a bit of advice with how to navigate the logistics of making the appointment and getting the best out of that appointment. [more inside]
I've taken steroids and screwed up my erection. I need my GP to write an assessing of my suitability for adoption. How badly have I screwed things up? [more inside]
I haven't had a primary care doctor in a long time and 'think it might be time for a chronic "doctor avoider" such as myself to have one. Due to obvious fear of illness, death, doctors, tests and the like I would love to find a really kind doctor with a great bedside manner who isn't averse to alternative medicine and is associated with a hospital. Thanks.

A friend is looking for a fat-friendly general practitioner in Austin, TX. (Someone who subscribes to the idea of health at every size would be ideal — though really it doesn't matter how they label themself, as long as they're generally sensitive about body-image/weight/food issues. We've seen this fat friendly health professionals list, but the one GP listed in Austin is apparently no longer practicing here.) Suggestions? [more inside]
Out-of-towner in Philly for the foreseeable future needs a GP, for general checkup as well as to look at a possible STD symptom. [more inside]
Due to a craptastically crappy situation, I need a new doctor (in DC or NoVA). I don't know whether to look for a GP or an OB/GYN. Advice and specific recommendations are very much appreciated... I haven't done this (look for a new doctor) in a long time (~10 years). [more inside]
Do I need health insurance to visit a G.P.? [more inside]
I'm confused by my GP's bedside manner. I went to see Dr. B today about my sciatic pain after my physio recommended it. She assessed me and referred me for an xray, which is fine. After that, when I asked about relieving the pain of muscle spasms in my leg, she said "I have something that would work perfectly..." and "I'd be happy to give you a note so you can stay home from work..." She seemed to be either thinking aloud, or waiting for me to respond. In the end I walked away with neither. What's going on? [more inside]
Need to find a *great* GP doctor (and also an OB/GYN if you have one) in Los Angeles. Preferably someone nice who is knowledgeable and interested in finding causes and solutions instead of just masking symptoms. [more inside]

I'm fairly new to the Chicago area; now that my medical coverage has kicked in, I'm looking for a good general practitioner / primary care physician. I live in Oak Park, but that's not really a restriction; I'm certainly willing to travel a bit for an excellent doctor. So, Chicagoland submodule of HealthFilter: your suggestions?
