I am planning to take GMAT in 3 months. I have taken few practice tests to assess my levels in quant and verbal sections. I have seen that I do repeatedly good in quant sections but not so good in the verbal. I have gone through Manhattan books for Sentence correction and Reading comprehension, and practicing consistently. Still my verbal scores are not improving. I , otherwise, consider myself to be good in English and I am into English literature. Most of the times, I overthink the answers, especially in Reading comprehension parts... I am stuck ! Can you guys please give me pointers to resources (books, tests, prep material for verbal section), personal suggestions (Tips, tricks, guidelines, strategies you have successfully used). Please share anything you think can help. Thanks a lot!!!
How should I prep my GMAT prep course? [more inside]
GRE scores are supposedly valid for five years after the testing year in which you tested. Such is the case with the GMAT and LSAT also. MCAT scores are valid for 2-3 years. My question is, has anyone ever had to retake a test because their scores were too old, even though the scores hadn't reached their "expiration date"? Has anyone encountered an academic / grad admissions department that encouraged a test retake because previous scores weren't fresh / recent enough? (Admitters and admittees are both welcome to respond.)
I am asking on behalf of a friend. She is looking for a GMAT tutor in SF, ideally who has access to a large library of computer exams in order to practice that format (my friend has struggled with the nature of the exam...she really wishes she could directly mark up the questions!). She has done well on standardized testing in the past (ie the SATs) and currently is an SAT math tutor so she definitely has a good foundation, but she needs someone who can help her with her verbal side (this is where she really struggles with the all-computer format), as well as pacing in general. She really appreciates your recommendations, thank you. She is willing to pay for quality. Word of mouth is so much better than Google!

Is it common or appropriate to put your GMAT score on your resume? If so, is it worth it take the GMAT a second time to improve your score? [more inside]
Asking for a friend: My friend recently got a 710 on the GMAT, with a 92nd percentile verbal and a 75th percentile quantitative. She has the impression that, while her total score is a good one, that business schools are more interested in the quant score than the verbal score, and she is concerned that a 75th percentile quant score will not be sufficient to get her into a top business school (and by a top business school, she means Harvard or Stanford (her first choices)). On practice tests she has done significantly better on the quantitative section and is now trying to decide whether or not to retake the test. Should she? If you have any personal knowledge of what HBS and SBS are looking for in a GMAT score, or can suggest a better forum for this question, she'd appreciate it too.
I'm taking the GMAT in less than two weeks. Does anyone have any last minute tips that I could use in that time frame, particularly about that quant section?

Thinking of taking the gmats in a few months - how should I study? [more inside]
Earlier this month I applied to the Master in Accountancy program at a state university. I have an excellent bachelor GPA, but it’s from a 3-year math/comp-sci program at a Canadian university. I have been taking intermediate accounting classes from a professional association, trying and failing to find a related job in the meantime. My work history is spotty at best. In short, I knew my chances weren’t good. … until I took the GMAT today and scored 780. What now? [more inside]

After using numerous prep books, official guides and the Powerprep software, I am stuck at the 700-720 range. I checked this post, but I am looking for more specific help for a really high score. Right now, I am answering 90% of the questions correct. Do I need to get 100% right? Or get more questions right in the beginning? What am I doing wrong? I am exactly three weeks away from the test.
