I would like to know what the beginning of this song says translated to English from French (I'm assuming it's French; at least that's what it sounds like to me). Also, if there's any relevant information you can give me about the French that would be great (e.g., "It's a quotation from..." or "Everyone in France knows that this means...").

My piano teacher gave me the music for this. The video is of one of my fave pianists (Cortot) giving a masterclass on the piece and I'd really like to know what he's saying. (Hope this is the appropriate place to ask.)

Why do so many bathroom/toiletry product labels have (usually poor) French translations (in US markets)? No other household products have these translations - just bathroom stuff.

My colleagues are working in animal science and are often using the term "loi de réponse de l'animal" to describe how biological parameters (e.g. milk production in dairy cows) change in response to a stimulus (e.g. modifying the diet). Potential English translations such as "animal response law(s)" do not seem correct. The concept seems pretty simple, so is there an obvious English translation that would cover this?

Beckett translation needed badly, please. En Francais. Please look up, or translate the last couple lines of The Unnameable ( L'Innommable ) for me. In English, it works out to: "I can't go on. I'll go on." What is the French?

"He's a dirty jade!" "Go ahead and sleep with him you dirty jade!" This insult was used repeatedly in the Zola book I was reading last night. When I searched for it this morning, Google returned results for other uses in at least three other Zola novels. What does it refer to? (As the more inside explains, I think it's actually an English-language insult, as the original contains something else.)

Ok, so my french isn't just bad -- it's nonexistant. Can anyone identify the singer and/or title of the song of which there is a snippet inside? If not the singer, can you give me the proper title, or spelling of some of the lyrics so I can google them and perhaps find the singer that way? I love the smooth sound of this clip and would love to find more. It's a great rumba! :)
