I've got to file my income tax return. The catch? I'm working a one year contract in France and therefore am going to have to do it in a language I'm not particularly good at, with other complications detailed inside. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or alternatively, does anyone know what kind of person I'd need to employ to help me with it? (Accountant? Financial advisor?)

What does it mean to be a UK resident for insurance purposes? I'd like to buy multi-trip travel insurance. However, I'm currently working on a contract in another country (France) until the end of May.

I'm trying to learn French. I'm in France, which is a great start. I find I can just about manage with Tin Tin books so reckon that comics (BDs for the more francophone amongst you) or children's fiction will be a good way to relax whilst getting extra practice. Can you recommend some comics or kids books that are in French and not overly complicated linguistically? (I have tried Asterix, but the puns just fly past my confused brain).

Help me to think "out of the box" about exercise, and meeting new people. I need to do both (having just moved to a new country) and am interested in ideas that let me get some exercise, and that might let me meet new people. I am in France (in the Alps) so am going to need indoor and outdoor activities, because come wintertime, I'm not sure that cycling or hiking are going to be options.

I'm in France, and I need to buy a washing machine, and maybe a TV. I am going to need it/them delivered. Can anyone recommend an online retailer? Cheap is good.

I'm moving country on Tuesday. For those who've done this before - what do you wish you'd known before you set out? Is there anything I can do now to make it easier?

I'm starting a job in France in June. I'm English. I'm going to need various stuff (bank account, apartment, insurance, mobile phone, phone, internet, register with a doctor, find some decent French lessons, and heaps of stuff I'm sure to have overlooked right now). Does anyone know any good expat websites or guides to moving to France? Or a forum where I can ask a load of questions?
