In my quest to see more of the USA, I have a vacation in Florida. I will start in the panhandle, and would like to see the Keys. No real schedule, just a week or four driving in Florida. Camping/rv parks ok. What should I see and do? [more inside]
By the time my birthday rolls around in early October, I am going to be well past burned out. I want to go sit alone on a beach and have no one speak to me for three days. I do not want to spend all day on a plane or in airports getting to said beach. For various logistical reasons, I think Tampa is the most practical airport to fly in to. But where to stay? Snowflakes within. [more inside]
How can I find an inpatient schizophrenia program that will treat my brother like a human being? [more inside]
I'm heading off for my first semi-solo road trip with kids (and my mom) from either DC or Winchester to the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area of Florida. We are planning to take two days and stop every few hours for a break, preferably somewhere scenic and fun for the kids. [more inside]
A friend of mine is taking a group of 20 high school kids to Orlando this month. Does anybody know of a good reliable company that will send a driver in a 20-30 seater on time each day to drive them to and from the airport, and around Orlando and surrounding areas while they're there? They're going to all the usual attractions, and all they want is a company that will show up on time, won't kill everyone onboard, won't traffic the students to an international crime ring and won't charge through the nose.
Hi I lease a GM- Chevy Malibu in Ohio I am moving to Florida and I called the registration office and they say that they need the title... Florida holds the title in their office and not the lienholder?? I am so confused about this This is crazy- GM owns the car not Florida
My husband and i found a company to relocate to Florida. We make together 100k here and we would make roughly 80k there if we are not adding bonuses, overtime. We like the Florida lifestyle and that is the reason for relocation We will be in fort Myers and we were in Columbus Do you think is worth it? There is chance for salary growth after the first year We do not have kids Just us and 2 cats We would get an apartment and we have two car payments and student loans What do you think?
We are heading to Key West in a few weeks for our honeymoon! What books, music, long-form journalism, and other pop culture tidbits should we add to our Kindles/iPhone playlists? [more inside]

We have until May 4 to take a 4 day weekend getaway. We live in MD and are thinking about heading South to warmer weather. We want to take out 2 dogs. They are well trained. We like places to swim with our boys. We enjoy a hike of not more than 6-8 miles. We enjoy walking places and eating at dog friendly out door cafes. Bonus points if there are doggy spas or gyms. Dog lovers please tell me about your city and why we should visit? I know about bring fido.com, but want first hand experience.
I have an outdoor grill set atop a wooden cabinet. Every few months, these mysterious granules appear inside and around the cabinet. Are they insect eggs? What are they and where are they coming from? [more inside]
My husband and I will fly down to Florida for 1 week. I am looking for some activities in south Florida that you went to and you loved. We don't have kids :) Thanks
My wife and I recently moved to Miami, Florida, having previously lived in more pedestrian-oriented cities. We've learned that many people view driving here as a free-for-all, with little regard for rules, responsibility, or merely trying not to kill anyone. I don't expect to single-handedly change this culture, but I would like drivers to have better awareness of one pedestrian crossing in particular and for cars to actually stop when people are walking in it. What are the things I can do to make this happen? [more inside]
My family is going on a Disney Cruise in April out of Miami! Yay! Before that, we want to spend a couple of days vacationing on land. But we have many questions. [more inside]
This May we'll be driving from Hilton Head, SC to Disney World. Yay! With a 3-year old and a 9-month old. Uhoh! Where should we stop around mid-way to break up the trip? [more inside]

We´re going to Florida to visit a relative this week. She lives in Port Saint Lucie (1.5 hour drive from Miami). We will arrive at MIA very early in the morning (Around 3:30 AM) and will depart at 5 AM five days later. We have rented a car but we´re not sure what to do during our arrival and departure days. More after the jump. [more inside]
I'm looking for a secluded beachfront cabin to rent for 2-3 nights in the southeastern US (ideally the Carolinas, but Virginia, Georgia, and even Northern Florida would be a possibility). Essentials are: 1) on a sandy beach with swimmable water, and 2) as secluded from other people as possible. Budget would be less than $300/night. [more inside]
My husband of 28 years suddenly and unexpectedly passed away from a massive heart attack at the age of 47. Now, almost 9 years later, I find myself alone and realizing that I will not be able to continue living in Southern California for much longer. Both of my sons and my grandchildren live in this area, so my move means that I will be leaving the only family I have. I'll be honest: I am absolutely terrified. [more inside]
I'll be at Cape Canaveral an extra day and my initial plan of an introductory scuba dive (or just doing snuba) is not working out. I've already toured Kennedy Space Center and I'm looking for something scientific/geeky/bizarre to follow it up with. A little help?
Posted on behalf of a friend, who lives in Florida: Me (Master Tenant) and 2 others (Co-Tenants) lease a house from a property management company. We have permission & authorization to sub-lease. I had to give proper notice for eviction due to failure to pay rent today. If he doesn't vacate, and I have to take him to court... do I have any reasonable expectation to actually collect un-paid rent and legal fees? [more inside]
My parents are embracing retirement and planning to escape Minnesota for January and February. They're not too picky about where they stay, as long as it's on the beach and the weather is warm. Complication: they're bringing the cat. [more inside]
A friend of a friend received a DUI in Florida in 2011. She is now working as a doctor. She has a very distinct name, and searching for her name on Google or Bing results in links to her mugshot and arrest record. For obvious reasons, she would like for this not to happen. [more inside]
Flying out to Florida at the end of May to stay on an island resort. Yay sounds exciting, right? Well, I've never flown before. I've never been to Florida before. I've never stayed on an island before. I've never stayed in a 4-star hotel before. I don't know what I don't know to ask what I should know! Please hope me. [more inside]
I'll be staying on Marco Island in Southwest Florida in a couple weeks. Although lounging around on the beach doing nothing is definitely a priority, I would like to find one outdoorsy day trip. Looking for something I can complete, including transportation to and from, in 10 hours or less. Could be kayaking, hiking or biking (I am not an experienced mountain biker or kayaker, but would be into trying anything basic, especially if rental equipment is easily obtained). [more inside]
Some friends and I are in the early planning stages of a long weekend trip to Florida, and I have this idea in my head of a nice condo on the beach, walking to restaurants in the evening, maybe a boardwalk to wander along. But it is looking like we are going to be flying into Ft. Lauderdale and that part of Florida seems to be mostly resorts and highways. [more inside]
My husband and I want to go on vacation this spring. We're thinking Miami! We'll spend about a week, probably in mid-march. We'd love your opinion on all things miami. Where to go, where to stay, and are we going to be able to do this when we don't drive a lick? We've never been to south florida. What should we do?! [more inside]
I'm a 30 year old STEM student who is looking to dress a little sharper while maintaining comfort. I also live in a very humid, very hot, sweaty subtropical environment. I am a white male with very long dreadlocks (not cutting them off, sorry). Snowflake details below cut. [more inside]
I'll be finishing a masters degree in school counseling and have given some thought to moving from Idaho to Florida. Big jump, I know. So far Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Southwest Florida appeal to me the most. I'd like some info and advice on SW Florida. [more inside]
A friend of mine and a friend of hers would like to spend 6-8 or 10 weeks in Florida, starting in mid-January until some point in March. Any resources for a relatively cheap stay in/around Orlando or WPB/Ft. Lauderdale? Budget ~$1500 USD per month, total. [more inside]
Sarasota Where-To-Stay: We want to stay in Sarasota, Florida, USA, Dec. 27-30 to visit with my dude's parents. Can anybody recommend a nice place to stay with kitchenette-type facilities (i.e., at least refrigerator/microwave - or maybe a friendly BNB) with _somewhere_ nice to walk, i.e., not located on a high-traffic road with nothing nearby but uninteresting industrial stuff, nail salons, or chain stores? I'm working with a travel agent, and have looked around a bit myself, so this is a long shot. [more inside]
I have a small undeveloped lot that I would like to sell. I am looking for a reputable agent to help me do this. [more inside]
I'm super bad at planning travel stuff and I'm trying to take a vacation with my girlfriend at the end of December. We'd like to do 3 nights at a quiet-ish beach within reasonable driving distance of Disney World and Universal Studios (because Harry Potter) in Orlando, and 4 nights doing both of those theme parks. First time Disney planner here, and I don't know anything about Florida beaches really. [more inside]
We have tickets to fly to Fort Lauderdale in late December and are planning on driving south and spending the week in the Florida Keys. Looking for lodging recommendations, preferably with kitchen facilities. [more inside]
I'd like to try the Dark Barrel Latte that Starbucks is testing. I live in Orlando, which I know is a test area (I had a Golden Maple Latte last week, which they are selling here instead of Salted Caramel Latte). I've checked a few stores and haven't seen the Dark Barrel Latte yet. How can I find a location selling it? Is there a location finder that searches by menu? Some published list of test stores?

In Pennsylvania, a non-governmental place one would go to help facilitate the private-party sale of an automobile/vehicle/boat where sales tax can be paid and collected, documents notarized, government forms submitted, license plates acquired and registrations completed is called a "Tag Shop", "Title Shop" or "Tag and Title Shop". What is it called in Florida? [more inside]
My friend and I found two abandoned kittens when we walked her dog last week. We saved them from the street, but neither of us can keep them (she: single mom who can't afford two cats; me: in Hoboken, NJ and already have two cats). She's willing to foster, but can only do so for the rest of the week as she's leaving for six weeks a week from today. They're great - playful and affectionate with each other and they turn on their motors as soon as you pick them up. She got an offer to make them barn cats, but they seem too sweet and gentle for that. They've been to the vet and are about 12 weeks old. They're being spayed tomorrow and will soon be ready for a home. My friend called a local rescue organization, but they don't have any foster homes available. Does anyone have any experience with a good rescue near Merritt Island, FL?

I'm planning an alumni party for my workplace's residents and fellows who will be at the national annual meeting for our specialty. The conference is at the Orange County Convention Center. I'm looking for a place within walking distance of the conference, with good food (doesn't have to be fine dining, or anything, but needs to be tasty) and a pleasant ambiance where our doctors can catch up on what they've been up to for the past year. It'll be a Tuesday night in September. [more inside]
Aside from Miami, does Florida have any place that has a culture not predominantly catering to retirees, families, or tourists? I'm an early thirties guy looking to spend a weekend somewhere in the state with a friend that's interesting, authentic, and youthful. Being near water is a nice to have, but not a requirement. [more inside]
The song "Ride Captain Ride" has been in heavy rotation around my house lately. There's something about this song that seems . . . different. I can't quite put my finger on it because I'm not a musician myself. I am not fluent in the language of chords and notes and that sort of thing. That said, I can't help but notice that this seems to stand apart from traditional North American pop/rock music. What distinguishes this song, if anything? You need not explain this to me Like I'm Five (as they put it on another webiste) but please be aware that I don't have a music-theory background. Many thanks in advance.
We are thinking of visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a much-needed vacation and planning to stay there for a week (since we're flying across the country to get there), but upon cursory research, it seems that the Wizarding World is very small and will take probably half a day. [more inside]

I'm going to Florida next week with my old parents, so I'm looking for activities and places to go for people who prefer not being too physically active. We'll be staying in Miami, Key West, and Naples. [more inside]
