Name that TV show

Based on a few vague memories, can you guys help me find a British TV series from the 80's? It involved roses, a maze and pairs of flying eyes that were spies for an evil sorcerer/king. It might be the TV show "Into the Labryrinth" but I can't tell for sure. Does this jog any memories for anyone? [more inside]

What was this young adult book with a protagonist called Veronica?

I once read a book where someone tells the main character, "You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar, Veronica." I'm 99% sure the character in question was called Veronica and the line definitely included her name. (It may not have included the "than vinegar" bit.) What was this book? [more inside]

Help me identify this YA novel I read in grade school.

I read this book sometime in the late 80s. It was a mystery solving book. I believe the protagonist(s) were kid(s). It involved a town named Staunton (like the chess pieces) and some burned paper in the base of a statue. And an ominous title implying the supernatural? I may have that last bit about the title wrong. [more inside]

Remember this book? It's about a girl who goes to Greece and something happens to her.

Identify-a-book-filter: I'm trying to remember a children's/young adult book that I likely read 15-20 years ago in Australia. It was about a ~13 year old girl who went to a Greek island with her archaelogist parents (for a year/the summer?) and something magicky happened. [more inside]

What is this young adult fantasy book from 198x?

It was a 'young adult' fantasy book I read maybe 20, 25 years ago. The story was of a young kid growing up in a world of magic; the conceit was that the magical elite of the world were akin to board game pieces. I was sure it was Mercedes Lackey but apparently not? [more inside]

Bookfiler: kids in drains kill people

Bookfilter: When I was a kid, I read a book or series of books about a lost tribe of children who lived in sewers, were at war with the adult world (or parts thereof) and made effective use of slingshots. There was one scene in particular I recall in which someone - a baddie presumably - was killed with a shovel that had been slowly sharpened through digging in silt for something. There might have been something odd about the children's ears as well. I know it's vague, but if I could remember more I probably would have found it without having to ask the hive mind!

It wasn't "My Friend, the Vampire" or "M is for Monster"...

A young adult vampire book, published late 70's, early 80's? Involves a kid who meets the vampire in the basement of a library, falls asleep and wakes up having no memory of it. Main vampire's name is Radu, but I believe there were several other vampires around, also with "traditional" names (a "Carmilla" perhaps?). [more inside]

Young Adult Book

MeFi Book Detectives: It's a young adult novel I read back in the 80s, about a melancholy girl who travels back in time to a shamanic tribal village and is initiated into womanhood there. I think she apprentices with the medicine woman. It has been lingering in my unconscious brain for a long time and I feel like I need to read it again. Do you know it?
