For the past few weeks, I can only use Facebook on a particular Firefox profile when using my laptop. Facebook does not load (stuck on loading screen) on my other Firefox profiles even if I create a new profile, as well as in Chrome and IE. Sometimes, when I access Facebook, it takes a long time trying to load but displays only a severely broken snippet. All other Web sites load properly. Does any of you have suggestions on how I can fix this problem? [more inside]
Let's say I've got a somewhat eclectic group of friends, the result of which being that I get some rather unorthodox, adults-only suggestions for Facebook groups to join. These things don't offend *me* but I'd be embarrassed if my mother or coworkers were looking at something I wanted to show them and these happened to be hanging out on the side panel. Can I turn this off within Facebook, are there any browser add-ons (Firefox and/or Chrome) I can use?
I'm currently using Facebook group chats in some of my community organizational work. The "seen by" function is really helpful for more timely items, but the problem is that it only shows first names - but we often have multiple people in the group with the same first name. Is there a way to tell which John or Jane has seen the message? Googlefu is failing me.
Managers at the charity I work for would like me to set up a Q&A session for a small group of people on Facebook. How do I do it? [more inside]
This is a question about the integrity of DNS records in terms of historical accuracy. A friend of mine is an investigative journalist who's doing a critical reexamination of the Facebook origin story has come across something that doesn't quite make sense and he doesn't have the technical expertise to parse its meaning or lack thereof. I am on facebook, pinterest and twitter, and I was wondering if random people can just look up my stuff that I have written or even my pictures. I'm not talking about people who are logged in and are following me or my friends. I just mean random strangers. Thanks.
I'm helping publicize an event via Facebook and print fliers. I would love to be able to include a URL for the Facebook event on the fliers, but the one that Facebook provides is a long string of nonsense. [more inside]
Facebook has a way to archive/download your data. However, last time I did that, I noticed that it didn't include any comments that friends had made on my posts or any of the pictures I was tagged in (that had been posted by other people), and probably a few other things in a similar vein. Is there an automated way to save those things? Perhaps a third-party product or app of some sort?
I am creating an email. In this email, I'd like to have a link that opens a message sharing a particular link with our link annotation. Then the recipient just needs to click "post" to share our content we need them to. I can do this on twitter but I can't figure it out on facebook. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Some guy used my (secondary) e-mail address when he signed up for Facebook, so now I am getting zillions of friend requests, status updates, personal messages, etc., via Facebook that are meant for him. My goal is to somehow bring this to his attention and get him to use his real email address. [more inside]
I'm curious to hear how everyone organizes their Facebook friends lists, and how they figure out which posts/content to disclose to which parties. How do you use your lists? What is your system? [more inside]

My 9 year old loves Dragon City. I de-authorized the FB app to post on my behalf through Facebook settings, but it's still very easy to send invitations to all Facebook friends through the Dragon City app (which my son usually plays on my iPad). As far as I understand, there's no way to play Dragon City without linking it to a Facebook account. Is there anyway to turn off the ability to invite Facebook friends? [more inside]
This one goes out to my fellow social media something somethings: Facebook Promoted Posts: When I choose the targeting, almost half of the brands/websites I want to choose aren't available. I start typing the name of the page, and it just never comes up as an option. Some of common names (Twice/www.liketwice.com) some have weirder names (The RealReal), but it's the same issue. Is there a way around this? A trick I don't know? Or is this just another way Facebook exists to make me tear my hair out?
I have been with my girlfriend since 5 months ago. Since the beginning we became friends on facebook. I love and trust her and have not seen anything suspicious from her. The only thing that got me a little worried was that on two occasions she told me that she kind of still cared about her ex boyfriend who she broke up with two years ago. When she saw that I got offended she told me that I do not need to worry because the feeling she has for him, is like a mother-child feeling. [more inside]

Does anyone know of an app (or apps) that block you from looking at a particular Facebook page, or a particular Instagram feed? I've heard of Break-up Apps that recently have come about where you can 'erase' someone's photos, tags, etc. from your Facebook, as if they were never there, and I also know of chrome extensions which block you from a site altogether, but I can't find a good app that blocks only a particular PAGE on the site (i.e. www.facebook.com/ex'susername). I would like to be able to continue being 'Facebook Friends' with an ex, as not doing so will be disruptive. I also need to use Facebook for my job. I've already blocked them from appearing on my newsfeed and in chat, but I can't seem to stop myself from, fairly regularly, checking their Facebook page, or their Instagram feed. Any good solutions you've seen online? If not, I may have to team up with a programmer to create one because I think it'd be a very useful service! I sure could use it ASAP.

I've been working on this little project called CheckIn, which is supposed to be a quick and easy to use Foursquare app that let's you check in quickly and adds interesting features like check in reminders (and instant checkins in iOS 8 - currently working on notification actions in my working build). After a break-up of a LTR, I was on OKC and noticed a really cool profile. She seemed really funny, interesting, and smart. Granted, just a profile, but I got a really good vibe from it. I was in no place to date after that break-up and after awhile, she took down her profile. So I didn't message her. The other day, though, I was on Facebook and a group was suggested to me. I click on it, look down, and see her Facebook profile (same photo from OKC). It was a crazy coincidence. Judging by her Facebook, she is single. Any ideas about what I should do? The group she's a member of is huge, so I don't think that would lead to anything. I think the likelihood of us running into each other at any time is probably pretty unlikely (big city). Granted, this all sounds kind of crazy to be pursuing this on the basis of an OKC profile, but she seems really cool and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

For the first time ever, I've opened an account in Facebook and started using it. Wow...it has to be the greatest social research tool ever! Attitudes and opinions can be gauged without the presence of a social / market researcher. Facebook must be changing the landscape of advertising / social research beyond recognition. Moreover, it must be a political electioneers / pollsters dream. No more contrived focus groups.... Can anybody recommend some books or websites the delve into this?

I can't believe I'm burning a question on this, but in the last few months, one of those cartoon style text and picture... thingies was going around Facebook. It featured a women who was lamenting people who expect there to be guy and a girl in same-sex relationships, and (I think) ended in a panel that said "And sometimes the blonde likes to wear the strap-on." Does anyone have a link to it? (As y'all can imagine, while the Google results for this particular query are highly interesting, they're not very useful to the particular question at hand. Thanks, all!)
An acquaintance from years ago recently found me on facebook. I haven't spoken to him in 15-20 years. I am getting a bit of a stalker/creeper vibe off him and not sure what to do. I've read some of the other stalker threads on AskMe, and I'm still not sure what to do in my situation. The problem that is perplexing me is that he is a member of the same club I am, and I'm afraid if I too aggressively ban him from my online contacts, it will make club attendance and club related communications a problem. How do I "deal" with this person? Special snowflake details inside. [more inside]
