Identity crisis

My entourage 2004 "Identity" is occupying 1/4 of my (full) HD. I use webmail for email and just want to get this enormous file off my HD, but it won't copy to an external drive. Any advice?

Custom view for flagged emails in Entourage? I could set up folders, as this article suggests. But I'd like a one-click solution. Is there a one-click method of setting a message's priority to "high"? Then I could make a custom view for high-priority messages. Perhaps the other method would be to create various categories instead: "respond soon," "archive," "waiting," etc. Are there one-click ways of setting a message's category?

I get a lot of emails...

e-mailing multiple addresses within one Entourage Contact.

Using Entourage to send to multiple e-mail addresses with one Contact. Staff members are using Entourage for e-mailing groups. These groups often contain people with multiple e-mail addresses, and for various reasons, all these e-mail addresses must be contacted. So Jon Doe will have a home and work e-mail. However, when sending to a Contact with a Group (or even individually), it will only send to their default address instead of all listed, like Outlook would.

So my question is: Is there a way to send to all e-mail addresses within one contact by default? Some users have hundreds of contacts, each with multiple e-mail addresses listed, in their distribution groups, and we'd rather avoid having to go back and modify all their groups.

Question regarding events in season 5 of Entourage: Spoilers within! Spoiler warning!!! In Season 5, Ari is offered the job of replacing the late head of Warner studios. I have two questions regarding this plot point and the Hollywood movie business world:
1) How common/plausible is it, in real life, that a talent agent, however powerful, would get offered an executive spot at a major film studio? One would think the two roles would require different skill sets.
2) What inducement or argument could Ari possibly wield to convince the bigwig who offered him the job to give it to Dana Gordon instead of Amanda Daniels as previously intended?

Help me get Entourage to play nice with my company's exchange server.

I need help fixing a problem with email on my Macbook. I am trying to get Entourage to play nice with my office's exchange server. I am running the latest version of Entourage on my Macbook (OSX Leopard).

I can get it to connect to my exchange server when I'm in the office by listing the exchange server as "fs1". With those settings, it doesn't connect when I am out of the office.

When I am out of the office, I have to change the exchange server setting to our exchange server address (our domain name, and then "/exchange". This setting does not work when I am in the office.

There are other problems - when I send an email from Entourage, it is not visible in Outlook back in the office (on my PC). Also, I'm not able to view our company's public contact lists on Entourage.

How can I set up Entourage to work both in and out of the office, and properly sync sent mail?

I am not against using Mac's Mail program or something else, if it will work better.

Please help me find a specific New York Times tshirt. It's the one Eric wears in Las Vegas in Season 3 episode 9 of Entourage. It is blue and uses the classic NYT typeface and logo, set at an angle on the shirt. I can't find any pictures of it on the web, but I'm hoping you fashionistas out there can give me a hand. Distribution lists in Microsoft Entourage: Is there any way to import a distribution list from Outlook onto Entourage? I'm looking for a quick and easy way of importing an Outlook distribution list onto Entourage, so I won't just have to re-input all of it by hand.

Entourage - Delay Outgoing Email

On my prevous version of Outlook on the PC, I was able to delay my outgoing mail for 3 minutes. This helped greaty as I'd often remember that I forgot to attach a file or I needed to add a comment. I recently switched to outlook for the mac (the latest version of Entourage). Can someone tell me how I can delay outgoing emails in Entourage 2008 for say 3 to 5 minutes?

Sometimes my Entourage allows outgoing messages on a new network, sometimes it doesn't (in which case I use the web based client, which is a pain). Just wondering if there's an easy way to fix this, or do you have to tweak something with every new network you use?

Entourage on a mac, almost constant pinwheel. WTF? We use entourage at work, and on my mac it barely works. I always get the spinning "pinwheel of death" and have to force quit regularly. Anyone overcome something like this? What worked?

How can I export my Entourage mail from one machine to another?

What is the best way to move my Entourage 2004 Email from one Max OS X machine to another? I had done this once before, and it wasn't as straightforward is it should be and totally forgot how to do it (Mac's help is no help). Also, for bonus points, is there another, better email client that I can use on the new machine? I'm not a big fan of Entourage for a lot of reasons.

Why are some of my outgoing email messages lagging in Entourage? My Entourage seems to be working fine, but as of a few weeks ago while I was on a friends wireless network, all of my outgoing emails were taking 2-3 hours to be delivered to their respective inboxes. Entourage showed them as sent, and they were in my sent folder, they just didn't arrive until later -- and they all arrived at once. Then the problem just stopped, and everything was fine again. Now back on my own network, it is happening again, but in unpredictable intervals. I am using Entourage through a POP server (yahoo), and if I send using Yahoo, there is no lag. I am on Mac OSX. I am not a techie, so I am having a time trying to figure this out.

I actually WANT a Microsoft product. Is it a sickness? Entourage vs. the 'other' email applications. I've used Microsoft's Entourage email application for years and I love it. Nothing compares. I just purchased a new Intel iMac and of course the Entourage version I have won't run on it.

Is there a way just to purchase Entourage without having to purchase the huge glut of Microsoft Office and what not. I don't use those apps and only want Entourage. The older version of Entourage I own was just a simple single purchase, but I don't think they're doing that anymore.

I've tried Thunderbird and its clunky with HORRIBLE message filtering and other problems. Don't like Apple's Mail app, it feels feeble and has horrible searching features. Bah!

Any suggestions from other Mac/Entourage users? Is there a comparable email app that I'm unaware of? Can I just purchase Entourage for Intel Macs without buying the whole suite?

Help Me Find My Duplicates!

Because of a problem with my Entourage database I now have lots of duplicate email addresses in my address book. I thought I could see the duplicates by going through my contact list but they are not listed next to each other. I can search each email address and it will display the dups but that would mean I would need to know which email addresses are duplicated. Clicking on the name field does not place the dups together in the list. Is there a simpler way to find the duplicates?

Switching from Entourage 04 to iCal/Mail/Address Book

I just switched from Entourage 2004 to Mail.app/iCal/Address Book. What techniques and/or add-ons should I be using? So far, I have only installed a script that allows me to have a different reply to: address than I send from, and I am planning on trying MailTags later tonight, which I think will at least let me categorize archived mail like I could with Entourage. What else should i know?

Ideally, I'm looking for:
- Advice on your best/favorite ways to set up smart folders/smart mailboxes.
- Any opinions on MailActOn (or similar applications)
- Advice on good ways to turn email into events, now that I can't ^E like I could in Entourage.
- Any other good downloads I'm not thinking of.

I use a hosted version of Tracks (tracks.tra.in) for tasks/projects, so I think I'm good there, but I open to suggestions. I also sync to a PalmOS Treo, in case that is relevant.

Thanks in advance. Going from having everything in one application to having it in four seems a little weird, but I'm committed to learning how best to do this.

EntourageFilter: Zombie rules gone but not dead

My co-worker (at my instruction) created a rule in Entourage to move a particular piece of email to the deleted folder. Now all of his mail is going directly to the delete folder, but the rule is not the "rules" list. Any ideas how to stop it? He uses a switcher to switch between his PC and his Mac, and also gets email on his blackberry. All locations are showing his new mail in the deleted area.

I feel bad because I was trying to make his life easier, and instead I've upset his delicate email ecosystem.

I'm trying to free up space on an overstuffed laptop. The laptop's owner uses Entourage 2004 for mac and has an enormous amount of email stored on it. I noticed in the user data folder there are 2 databases, one called "database" and one called "old database". Can these be combined into one? Is there a way to tell if one is a copy? If we could trash one that would help free a lot of space.

Entourage tasks print in the wrong order.

Why does Entourage (2004) print my tasks in a different order than they show up on the screen? I am trying to print my Entourage tasks sorted by category. On the screen, this is easy, as I just click the categories column head and it is done. Yet no matter how things look on the screen, they print in some random order. What am I doing wrong?

Bonus points if you can show me how to export (copy/paste/whatever) task into a text editor.

How can I make an iBook with Mail and an iMac with Entourage stay on the same page? I want all of my mail from two Gmail accounts to come through BOTH Mail on the laptop and Entourage on the desktop with an archive on the Gmail servers. As it is now, the iMac gets the mail fine, but it doesn't get sent to the iBook. How can I make this automatically happen?

Forces are conspiring to keep me from switching from Entourage to Thunderbird at the office. I'm getting an error that I'm unable to log in to the POP server when I try to check my inbox in Thunderbird. And yet, I filled out all the config options using information that I found in my Entourage configuration. What might I be doing wrong?

I'm on a mac, so it's not a Norton issue...

My administrator (who is an offsite vendor) is an Entourage advocate, and is being less than helpful. But I need better searching and tagging options than Entourage provides. Is there something obvious I could be missing?

I'm glad to provide more info as needed.

Help me reach Gmail / mobile / desktop sync nerdvana

Please help me come up with a solution for automatically syncing Gmail, GCal, my desktop client and my mobile in one big data orgy. Currently I'm hosting my domain (email only) with Mailstreet and I'm relatively happy with their services and support. However, the siren song of "Gmail For Your Domain" has me entranced.

I'm in the market for a new mobile, and I'm looking at either a Blackberry 8800 or a Nokia E61i (when it comes out). Regardless, I want the full wireless sync of not only my email, but also my calendar and contacts (notes too, if possible). I can get this through Mailstreet if I sign up for the Blackberry service, but it's not cheap, and the storage space is limited (100Mb).

So I was wondering how I can set up automatic synchronization between my desktop PIM (I use Entourage, as I like having one app with all the data consolidated), my mail host, and my mobile as with the BES.

This sounds like something that Funambol would provide, but I'm not clear on the Gmail For Your Domain integration aspect.

The end goal will be I can add a contact on my mobile, and it just shows up on my desktop a few minutes later (the same with email, and calendar items). If I have to pay for Exchange, so be it, but I'd prefer to get away from it if possible.

Lost Entourage Calendar Entries.

Lost Entourage 2004 Calendar Entries? I was adding entries to my Entourage calendar this weekend and when my system went into sleep mode and after I came back I am missing 3 months of calendar entries! Does anyone know how this could happen? I do sync with iCal.

From now on I will be backing up the iCal db as that seems easier at this point.

I am about to own a Mac for the first time in 25 years. Has much changed since then?

About to become a Macbook owner. Please help me manage tasks and e-mail. I am about to receive a Macbook, and I don't know what to do with all my e-mail.

I am a pretty hardcore Outlook user (using the ClearContext Plug-in). I currently in my inbox have a folder called archives where all my old mail that I need for reference gets categorized and dumped. I have another folder called "Topics," for projects I am working on. I also love how easy it is to simply drag and drop e-mail to the task/calendar/contact/topic folder.

I know that some of this is coming in Office 2008, but I do not want to buy Office twice in a year, so what do I do until then? Right now, everything email, calendar, and task related is in a PST file. Also, I would really like whatever I do to sync with my Treo 650.

Help My Mac Tell Me When to Blow My Nose ...

I'm looking for a Mac OS X application that lets me quickly, without a clunky UI or 500 steps, tell the Mac to pop up an alert at specific times of day, with the ability of recurrence. I've tried some apps and ruled them out: Alarm Clock Pro has a background daemon that has a nasty memory leak that the programmers just won't fix, and its UI isn't really good (it's a crossplatform app); iCal and Entourage are very bloated for this sole purpose, and I dislike iCal's UI for entering tasks; remind combined with growlnotify was unreliable, despite a lot of effort to debug; and Quicksilver's timed events isn't really what I'm looking for, either. Just give me something that lets me tell my Mac to pop up a window every Thursday at 7:30 pm, or every day at 10:30 pm, or just tonight at 5:00 pm, or so on that says text of my choosing. Preferably freeware and a universal binary (an application that runs natively on the Intel Macs), but I won't be more picky than I've been already! :)

You can assume my level of competency on the Mac is not too bad. I've goofed with Unix and command-line stuff, and I feel moderately comfortable with higher-level techie stuff, although by no means am I an expert.
