I was rear ended in Michigan (a no-fault state) last week but I still wasn't guilty. Although I don't have collision coverage with my insurance, I have neck pains and my car has been totaled. What are my options here? [more inside]

What is that symbol one finds at the beginnings or endings of chapters of books called? It's like a little arabesque, but with a (reasonably) flat bottom or top.

I'm in a long-term relationship with an girl, and things are both great and awful. She's seriously dependent, I need my alone time. She wants a farm house in the middle of nowhere, I want to be close to the city. I'm the always-connected gadget-fiend type, she thinks tech is dumb. We could probably compromise on these, but we have some relationship scars and problems in the bedroom. But, we're on the same page on most moral issues, have a ton in common, and she's beautiful. Things have been rough for a while, and I'm starting to feel like our problems and differences make this relationship detrimental to both of us. I don't want to throw away The One, though. Is it time to fold? [more inside]

LDRfilter: I'm in a long distance relationship and past questions about them have been really helpful to me. What seemed to be a recurring feature was that people said it was essential to have an end date, or some day that you knew the distance would be over. I don't. Does anyone have experience of this, or can anyone offer advice specific to this situation?

When (and where, and maybe why) did people start doing this ? Is it mostly a UK/Europe thing ? Is it only occasional or a valid trend now ?
(Another question about a grammar anomaly, but I'm not complaining this time, only curious. This one only occurs in informal [Internet] communication and for some reason I enjoy it: a space between sentence end and final punctuation, when punctuation is a '!' or '?' Mostly UK- and Ireland-ers do it, like sgt serenity [a mad Scotsman] here.)
