Looking for Muzaky instrumentals

Hi all -- I'm looking for instrumental music that has a kind of Muzaky, stimulus progression work vibe to it -- bureaucratic is good. Retro, too. Something along the lines of The Dust Brothers' "Corporate World" from the Fight Club soundtrack. Thank you in advance for your help.

Lead paint dust

I think workers employed by my landlord sanded away about a square foot of paint in my bathroom (in a building erected in the 1930s). There is a layer of fine dust in my medicine cabinet and on a few other surfaces (presumably those they didn't wipe down afterward). I'm concerned about lead poisoning; what steps should I take to avoid exposure? [more inside]

How can I get away with dusting less often?

Please help me be a domestic god and a lazy person at the same time. Spring has sprung and I am getting my house nice and clean. I am dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning baseboards and windows, washing bedding and other fabrics and just basically doing things up right. My problem is, it doesn't stay this way. Does anyone know some magic to keeping a clean house with a couch based lifestyle short of getting worse lighting? [more inside]

Am I going to suffocate without opening my windows?

This is silly and at this point I feel like I should know better: I'm a little lost when it comes to using air purifiers and keeping windows open/closed. It makes sense that the less pollutants get inside the better, except I've never had to keep all the windows closed for long and I keep thinking that no fresh air will be terrible. How do normal people do this? [more inside]

My condo gets dusty and filled with cat hair easily. How do I clean it?

My flooring is all vinyl and tile. I sweep and clean regularly, but a film of dust forms quickly and my cat constantly sheds. I live in a ~600 sqft place and it's annoying to put up with. What's the best way to prevent and clean cat hair and dust?

My parents are slobs and it's making me sick.

I live about five hours away from my parents and visit them frequently. However, their house is so dusty and in such disrepair that the visits are exacting a toll. I have dust allergies that go berserk in their house, and my dust-free sleeping solution (air mattress) is starting to hurt my back. Whenever I try to raise these problems with them, I get a million reasons why nothing can be fixed, and often a giant guilt trip to boot. Not visiting: not an option. False smoke alarms in AC ducts: troubleshooting tips?

Our new commercial space is experiencing frequent false smoke alarms in one specific area of our AC ducts. The company that installed the AC system is stumped, and so is the electronic security company that installed the smoke detectors. We've just had our ducts cleaned top to bottom but the problem persists even though we're presumably dust-free. Any thoughts on what to try next? Engineers? Inspection services?

Searching for an essay about dust

I'm looking for an essay I read several years ago (circa 2002–2007) that is an appreciation of dust, especially dust gathering in the home/not dusting. Its author is female. It may be part of a book/collection of essays by this author. A detail I remember from the essay: the author writes that it's not necessary to clean your cups very well, except when you have company at your home. [more inside]

"Congress created dust bowl"? What gives?

I recently drove from LA to San Francisco and back along I-5 and I noticed that there's a ton of signs along the highway that simply say "Congress Created Dust Bowl." There are a few other signs that mention Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic politicians, but it was difficult to get the full picture of what the signs were talking about. Can anyone provide some context/background to what these signs are about?
