I'm looking for a good primary care doctor in New Haven, CT who accepts United Healthcare insurance. I'm also okay with driving a short distance outside of New Haven. I need someone who does not have a long waiting period to schedule appointments for new patients. Do you know of anyone, or do you know of a good way to decide which of the thousands of doctors on the internet are any good (healthgrades.com was decidedly unhelpful)?

I've never really had a regular doctor as an adult and I'm thinking I should change that. Should I? How do I go about it?

Depression! But maybe it's hypothyroidism? Dr google tells me it might be cancer (ovarian or bowel) when I add in the other health changes I've had over the last year. Hope me? What do I ask? Who do I see? No insurance. Location and gmail inside.

I am looking for a general-care doctor, a gynecologist, and possibly a psychologist/psychiatrist in Chicago. Do you have any recommendations? Is there a website for this? A secret doctor directory? How does one go about finding
good healthcare?

I'm 28 and I recently found out I most likely have a serious condition I need treatment for. It will almost certainly involve a urologist and possible (minor) surgery (probably in-office). I have no health insurance, make about 40k a year, but have very little discretionary income. How do I go about this?

I don't understand why health care suddenly costs so damn much. I can understand a few factors - nurses' pay has gone up, new treatments are more expensive (and doctors prescribe more expensive treatments - sometimes
unnecissarily) but these factors don't seem to explain how insanely costly health care has become. And where is all that money going? Again, I understand that CEO pay has skyrocketed in the last 20 years, but is that enough to explain the enormous cost of health care these days?

I am going to visit a doctor, but my Bluecross Blueshield/billing will not show his name and instead will show the doctor he reports to (according to the frond desk person), since he isn't in today. Sounds kind of strange to me. Is there anything I should be asking/should be aware of? (Or is this normal?)
