Technically I live in Parker, CO. Friends and others have started buying my digital art doodles that I print locally on glossy cardstock. I've seen some artists have digital canvas prints but not sure where to go for a reasonable rate as I want quality but don't have a lot of money. I'm not even sure how it is done but have the CMYK files at a good resolution and am ready to go. I would like to try a few and see if I can sell them. Thanks for your time. It is nice for people to like what I draw but I want to give the best quality as it is not yet a living but a hobby.

I have inherited my grandmother's writings. I'm scanning them, doing OCR and in some cases retyping them so that I can have them digitized. I'd like to know, is there a format for text that is best for archival purposes? I was thinking of .rtf, since so many applications can open it. Is it considered "archival quality"?

Let's say you have a global disaster where the traditional web is no longer available (all ISPs are down, or a virus/cyber-attack incapacitates the web for entire regions of the world). What are the data communication alternatives in this sort of context? Is anyone still running a BBS? Does anyone even have a dialup modem anymore? Is there something better than this?

My young daughter (kindergarten) will be starting piano lessons soon, and the teacher wants us to buy an 88 key digital piano with weighted keys - that seems to be about $500 minimum. However we're not sure the lessons will stick, and as a bonus we are space-challenged in our small house. For about $160 we could get something that is still big but not 88 key big, touch-sensitive keys instead of weighted keys (i.e. Yamaha NP11, open to other recommendations). We are piano ignorant, so don't know how to judge the trade-off. Should we suck it up and buy the big boy, or will it not matter at this stage of learning?

I just filled out a tax form with a signature app where I "drew" my signature in the field (with a mouse) and it applied filter "smoothing" and other things to make it look like a real ink signature... It actually looked BETTER than my real hand written signature.
Where can I get something like that to make my own ink looking images?

I am a decent artist but very rusty, have intermediate Photoshop skills but draw quite well on my cheapie SB Pro app on my Kindle. (I even sold prints using just that.) Now, I have a new Wacom and besides the usual adjustment to using a wacom stylus, am finding that all three applications on my Mac have pros and cons (as a beginner with this wacom tablet), with the biggest con being the user myself. Can you recommend any books or links on doing drawings and paintings using the Wacom Bamboo (Splash) besides the applications' websites? Any brushes you favor or have downloaded and so forth? As an aside I note that pics I do in Art Rage at 300 dpi saved as psd don't open on my SB Pro application but this may be a future question.)

I think it's possible to put digital music onto vinyl albums at home with some device I saw advertised somewhere. But will doing this produce an anologue sound or a digital sound? Will it sound as rich as if the album had originally been on vinyl or will it sound emptier the way digital music does? I guess I'm basically asking if it's worth doing. I don't know technical stuff about stuff, so I hope my question makes sense!

My uncle has a Vodavi Starplus STS / system and KSU with 6 CO lines / which is 6 different phone #s can be used on the system. He recently changed 2 of his three lines to cox digital service. He still has one line with CenturyLink/Qwest. His phone system will not connect with the new digital lines. Cox says it's a Vodavi problem. The Vodavi guy says that there isn't enough voltage on the Cox lines.
So, who's right? Will my uncle's Vodavi system work with the older CentruyLink line as well as the newer Cox digital lines?

Wondering if anyone else who uses the Wacom Intuos5 drawing tablet knows how to deal with this problem. My Intuos3, which I loved, had a big dead space in the middle of the drawing pad because I used a cleaner on it that messed it up. Two new versions had been released since I bought it, so I figured it was time to get the latest and greatest.

Many music videos from the late nineties,
six underground by the sneaker pimps being the most salient example to me, have a distinctive cinematographic feel and style to them, with very high contrast (super dark blacks and popping-out, almost oversaturated whites); a lot of murky brown/green and pops of red/blue. Does this style have a name? Is it a film effect or some kind of post-processing, or both? digital? Why was it so prevalent in the late-nineties, and, correct me if I am mistaken, mostly just for music videos?

Tablet or Digitizer that works responsively with MS OneNote v2007 or 2010? Heading to grad school in the fall. My memory recall is much better when taking notes by hand and besides I have some math classes that will cover expressions that don't lend themselves to typing on a keyboard. Years ago had a fujitsu convertible laptop provided by a past employer that worked great when in tablet mode for digitizing handwriting using the stylus but I'm not so keen on purchasing one now as I don't want to outlay that much cash. I could either go for a digitizer - something like the WaCom Bamboo (but NOT the WaCom bamboo as its got known issues with OneNote) or even a full tablet that can do inking and supports OneNote. It seems like the new rage of tablets that Apple ushered in don't do much with digital ink (its all touchy feely touch screens now) and are better suited for consuming content then creating it. Your experience and advice? Difficulty: Budget under $700

If an alien located on a planet 100 light years from here was to switch on a big, multi-frequency radio receiver, and record all the noises coming from outer space for the
next hundred years, on all frequencies, how many soap operas, advertisements and new broadcasts would they pick up from Earth? Would a mass-market radio, similar to our Earthly equivalents, pick up anything? Over time, as the number of Earth transmissions increases exponentially, would the alien pick up a cacophony or a damp fizzle?
