So my sister just had her second wee tot and we thought it might be nice to get her and her hubs a gift certificate from one of those places where you can pick from Many restaurants and then little men bring you food. Google suggests there are more than one in Hogtown. Any recommendations or disrecommendations?

I bought $500 of lumber from the local hardware store/lumber yard. They will delivery it tomorrow. Assuming there are two guys and it takes them 5-10 minutes to unload it, how much should I tip each of them, if anything?

I need to get word out about a neighborhood meeting next week. I know I can (and will) use email to get the word out.
However, I don't have everyone's email address. So I am going to use a paper flyer with the info about the meeting. I need to deliver these to about 150 homes.
I can walk around and do it myself. But I was wondering if there were any sources out there to crowdsource this kind of job. What would be a reasonable payment?
I need the hive mind to help me.

For a while, I've searched for a quirky way to handle delivery of my files online - basically one video file, between 30 - 250 MB, gets uploaded to YouTube for client preview, and to Hightail (formerly YouSendIt) for delivery to put on air. I'd love a simpler, or more automated way, to handle this process on my Mac. [more inside]

My roommate and I are looking for a decent (ie. higher quality than Ikea) loveseat (around 6 feet long) to fit in our small, currently very sparsely furnished apartment. However, all of the furniture stores that we've checked out say that delivery will take 6 weeks at the very least. Are there any stores in the Vancouver area that would be able to do this faster? I would like to start some kind of "healthy" food delivery service for my mom in NC - near Jacksonville. She is 82 and lives by herslef and doesn't always eat the best. She has some friends around that will take her to the store and she can cook for herself but she really tends to be very frugal and not spend alot on food. Because of that I don't think she really eats the best.
She was just in the hospital for a very bad bout of stomach virus (maybe complicated by food poisioning - not sure). She is coming home today and will have someone going to the grocery store for her to do the basic shopping.
I would love to find a business that I could order from - either locally or nationally that I could supplement her with some healthy pre-prepared or almost pre-prepared foods. Not worried about cost but we don't need lobster from Maine either. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How do we get to and from the store? Any advice helpful; more details inside. [more inside]

Managing gestational diabetes fairly well by eating paleo/low carb and injecting insulin (tiny dose, rarely) when anticipating higher glucose levels. Now I read pregnant women should load carbs shortly before and during the childbirth itself. I'd like to avoid both a carb crash and hypoglycemia during delivery. I also worry about the baby being hypoglycemic if I have high glucose levels during delivery and I'm getting conflicting info (yes, danger v. no, too short a time to impact baby). So, what to eat leading up to and during delivery?

Through work, I have struck up a correspondence with an extraordinary translator and writer located in Austin, TX. Advancing age, declining health, and (from what I have gleaned) lack of local family members have conspired to put him in a nursing home. He's mentioned a craving for better food -- specifically for French canapés. Is there any French bistro or gourmet market in Austin where I could arrange for some beautifully prepared treats to be delivered to him?

I live in the Bay Area and often find myself wanting things, especially delicious location-specific foods, from stores in other cities that don't offer e-commerce and/or won't ship to me. (Example
.) I want to pay someone --companies, individuals, I don't care-- to buy the things, pack them up, and ship them to me. This seems like it'd be a fairly common need/want, so someone must have set up a business offering it, right..?

I have a client that has a scooter food delivery service. What I need to do is build menus for each of the restaurants, have the user be able to add items to a cart and then get a total. The actual transaction will occur at the customers home upon delivery so there's no need to deal with payments online. I'd like to use something open source and I've been looking at X-cart but I'd like to consider as many options as possible. WP/WooCommerce doesn't work because it requires a payment gateway and real time transaction (as far as I can tell) I'd love some recommendations. Thanks.

My two-year-old is insistent that we should give his aunt (my sister) an ice cream cake for her birthday on Sunday. Does one of Seattle's many specialty ice cream shops deliver to the Atlantic/Pratt Park area near downtown? I almost found success with Gelatiamo
, but they only deliver to businesses. Her birthday is Sunday, but delivery tomorrow or Saturday would be fine, too, of course.

What are your favorite websites for ordering food to be delivered from restaurants? I'm a devotee of Seamless, but I know there are a lot of competitors out there, including sites which only serve specific local areas. So I'm interested in both sites with "national" and local scopes, anywhere in the U.S. I'm not interested in individual restaurant websites with their own in-house ordering systems — only looking for sites which feature multiple restaurants. Thanks.

I don't understand customs regulations very well, but I think these may have to be stores actually in Norway. In a few month's time, I will be recovering from a c-section whilst wrangling a newborn and a toddler. We don't have family here in Sydney so Mr Jubey and I will be coping alone. I'll be freezing meals in advance to help there but our freezer is only small so I'm looking for a meal delivery service for 4 weeks or so til I recover. Endless takeaway doesn't appeal, nor is it healthy long term. I know of Lite & Easy but that's geared towards weight loss and while (hopefully) breast feeding I will need more calories. Can you recommend a good meal delivery service? No special dietary requirements.
