Please recommend novels that deal with Uplifting sentient species, bootstrapping technology, a la David Brin's Upllift novels and Vernor Vinge's Zones of Thought series.

I really enjoy great documentaries that span years and focus on individual development. For example, I found David Sutherland's
Country Boys or
The Farmer's Wife fascinating. I also really enjoyed
7 Up. Please share other docs like this with me.

Somatic Experiencing is a method of recovering from emotional trauma-- I'd like to hear about experiences with the system because
In an Unspoken Voice describes it as dealing well with the paralysis aspect of trauma, not just the intrusive memories and explosive emotions, and I tend to be pretty stuck.

Does anyone know where I can find a list of the ubiquitous "several conservative members of congress" who recently spoke out against the clip from David Wojnarowicz's "A Fire In My Belly" video at the National Portrait Gallery?

I cannot believe I am blowing a question on something that most other MFr's will find so .... trite. But here I am. I need help identifying a Dr. Who episode. Of the recent variety. I suspect it will be answered within thirty seconds.

If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins the most? I'd say Flippy, wouldn't you? You'd be wrong, though. It's Hambone.
I love the writings of
Jack Handey. His
Deep Thoughts (beware sound!) and his articles in the
New Yorker. I would love to hear recommendations of similarly funny writings.

David Blaine living underwater for a week. How was it done? I don't have enough info on the stunt, so pardon my ignorance. Was the sphere uncovered the entire time? If it was covered at any point, why?

Not that I'm a fan or anything (and I'm not), but.... Back around the time of its release, a friend of mine forwarded me a very thorough point-by-point comparison of Marilyn Manson's
Mechanical Animals with ... well, key points from David Bowie's entire career. It was a very good read and had a lot of insight into the recycling of ideas in music. My google-fu in this case seems to be weak at turning up what I'm trying to find - anyone willing to take up the chase?
