Help me find the best videos of dances in public, no flash mobs

I was mindlessly scrolling through Instagram video-crack and came across a clip of two women who guerrilla-filmed a choreographed hip hop dance next to an airport baggage claim. And I guess I forgot to "like" it, because now it's gone, never to be found again. What I am looking for now is more videos of 2-6 people doing some kind of short choreographed hip hop dance in a well known place like an airport or a big box store aisle, someplace where it wasn't exactly illegal, but they had to do it quickly and move on. Styles of Salsa?

This year, I want to learn how to dance Salsa. To that end, I enrolled myself in two beginner classes simultaneously. I figured that they'd be teaching the same dance, I'd get two different perspectives on what was most important, double the in-class practice and at the end, I'd likely choose one teacher and keep going with him/her. But...the Basic Step for the two classes is reversed. Teacher #1's first step (for the men) is left foot forward. Teacher #2 has left foot back. Do different styles of salsa have completely different (i.e., opposite) footwork? [more inside]

Need help finding new audio samples

I'm looking for community-created (i.e. free) samples, loop packs, etc. for modern dance music creation. The WAV-ier, less-proprietary the formats, the better. I like Monstercat-style electronica these days but my sample library is feeling pretty outdated. This is a hobby on which I can't spend much money at the moment.

Give me more music for the stairs to nowhere!

Mirror wall, minus the wall

I'm moving from a tiny apartment into a slightly less tiny apartment, and I would like to utilize some of the space for dance practice by setting up some sort of portable mini mirror wall. I expect most of the limited wall space to be blocked by furniture, so I would like to set up something that could be placed in front of, say, the TV stand, during practice, and then put away if the TV needed to be used. Give me more upbeat, dancey music!

I find that lately, maybe because 2016 is so depressing, I really love listening to happy danceable music. Foster the People is pretty much 100% awesome, especially Helena Beat. Other things like what I'm looking for: Beck -- Dreams and Coldplay -- Adventure of a Lifetime. What else should I be listening to?

What are your favorite transcendent, gives you the chills, performances?

I want to feel amazed. Please give me your best examples of transcendent performance (musical, sports, film, fictional stories, etc.) that show people performing at the peak of what's possible and even surpassing their conscious selves. Give me the chills! Raise the hair on the back of my head! Some Youtube links would be great. Thanks!

Where to dance to 80s music in NYC?

I love dancing to 80s (and 90s) music, but with Culture Club now closed, I'm not sure where to go in New York City. Are there any new dance places that are devoted to 80s/90s music, or that have "80s nights"? Thanks!

How is choreography/dance preserved?

Not too long ago I saw a production of West Side Story and as you might expect, the choreography was similar to what was in the film, what the other revivals have done, etc. I presume that it was being true to the original choreography as well, but now I'm very curious about how dance/choreography is preserved and passed on. How is it generally done? I assume that film/video recordings preserves a lot of choreography/dance, but what what was done before film and video recordings? [more inside]

Sample ID: "When I grow up, I wanna be a DJ"

Once upon a time I heard a track which included a clip of a child's voice saying "when I grow up, I wanna be a DJ". The sample popped into my head again last night and I am trying to figure out where it came from. I think maybe Skrillex or somebody like that sampled it recently, but it came from something older. Does this sound familiar? What am I thinking of?

Good, safe places for me to ballroom/Latin/swing dance in Portland?

Recently moved to Portland, OR. I'm an intermediate ballroom/Latin/swing dancer and I'm overwhelmed by the amount of choices here when I google. Irresistible toe-tapping can't-stay-still musical theater numbers?

Last night I came across the Brotherhood of Man musical number performed on the Drew Carey show, and realized it was the perfect video to snap me right out of a funk and make me want to dance around the house (particularly once the full ensemble gets going around 2 minutes in.) Now I want more! I'm looking for more videos of big, bombastic musical numbers that can't help but give me thrills and cheer me up with great dancing. The kind of song that gets even the most cynical person tapping their toes and smiling. Anything Goes is a great example of what I'm thinking of - I also can't resist a giant tap number. Think over the top with jazz hands. Everything a person who hates musical theater can't stand. Don't worry if they seem too obvious - I've only started enjoying musical theater a few years ago, so I've got plenty of catching up to do.
