I'm wanting to get a multi-region player and the one i found is in the UK while i'm in the US. I know i'll at least need an adapter for the voltage but is it as easy as just plugging it up? Do i need to mess with setting on my tv too, or does NTSC/PAL not matter with lcd hdtvs anymore?
AV experts, can you help me? I set up my current home entertainment system 11 years ago, and it's worked well for me. Now it is failing, and consumer electronics have moved on. I can't just replace the failing component with a new one because it is not being manufactured any longer, and I only need some parts of it. I'm having trouble integrating new things into the old setup. I need to upgrade/reconfigure my AV, and possibly wireless. Details inside. [more inside]
Seems like a pretty easy to navigate digital video solution: Drobo with digital video files, USB to Bluray player, HDMI to TV. Can you suggest a specific model Bluray player that will accommodate this use? I REALLY need to shift my DVD collection to some kind of HDD-based (I think?) system, but ease of navigation and simplicity of set-up is very important to me. If I am barking up the wrong tree, please suggest a more appropriate solution.

I am looking for an external, portable DVD drive that plugs into a TV (via USB would be most convenient) and functions like a standard DVD player, while also connecting to a laptop to play CDs/install software. I can only envisage using the drive to watch DVDs on my TV, rip CDs and install software, so the ability to write to disk is not important. [more inside]

I've been re-watching Mefi favorite Community with all the commentary tracks and really enjoying it. So, I'm looking for other good TV shows (genre unimportant) on DVD that have commentary for ALL the episodes. Preferably a show that is complete, but that's not necessary. Most important is that every episode have commentary on it. Recommends?

I recently bought The Twilight Zone Season 2 box set on DVD. I'm wondering how to turn the set of DVDs into a nice TV show series in iTunes complete with episode titles and other information about each episode. I've tried using Handbrake, but all of the DVD chapters are of the same length and it looks really confusing. I have an iPad and would like it to look like other TV show seasons do that are purchased from the iTunes store. Anything super automated and created for this purpose?

My (very basic) DVD player is connected to my (also very basic) TV with RCA cables. My laptop plugs into my TV with an S Video cable (so I can watch Netflix streaming, etc). The problem: if the S Video cable is plugged in (even if the laptop isn't connected on the other end) the TV won't recognize the signal coming from the DVD player. My solution is to simply unplug the S Video cable when I want to use my DVD player, but ideally I'd like to keep it plugged in and have some sort of switching mechanism. Is there such a product and if so, can someone provide a link? Thanks!

During some insomnia nights, some years ago, I was lucky enough to come across with Of Beauty and Consolation on the tv, which was an English translation of the dutch tv program Van de Schoonheid en de Troost. The program is a series of interviews with intellectuals. The Richard Rorty interview is available on-line. Now I'm trying to get the DVD box, and it seems there is a dutch version available, but since I don't know a word of dutch, I'm trying to find the English version. Anyone can help this quest?

Where can I find older episodes (pre-Elmo) of Sesame Street on DVD for my son? I know about the two disks of "Old School" episodes that have been released on DVD, there's still a huge gap between where those end (1979, I believe) and when Elmo became extremely prominent in the show (late 80s, I believe), and each of those sets only contain 5 full episodes, and a lot of individual segments, outside of the context of a full show.
