While I'm in Paris (for a short stop) I plan to buy DVDs (movies) by french new wave directors like truffaut. I have heard that there are cheap DVD shops in Paris. Do you know of any good ones in the Left Bank ? I will be staying in Montparnasse.

I am looking to catalog my DVD library (mostly of DivX movies). I own an IMac. Is Delicious Monster the way to go? I want to be able to simply enter the title of the movie and have it come up with the real box art and keep it in A-Z or numerical order. No more no less. I emailed customer service and they never responded so I am consulting the Metafilter Oracle on this one. If there is anything cheaper or free, I am open to that, as well. I have a Sony DCR-DVD92 video camcorder that records video on DVD-Rs. I have finalized the disc on the camera and I'm trying to capture the video onto my PC for storage/editing, but the camera doesn't seem to connect to my PC, and my PC DVD player doesn't seem to recognize the mini DVD-Rs that the camera uses. Any suggestions?

Using Handbrake, is there a way to put subtitles onto DVD when they are interspersed in the real movie? Example: the movie Defiance had some English subtitles when characters spoke Russian/German. These didn't come through when I made my first trial run disc. So basically I'm asking for situational subtitles if I can call them that and not the full movie-lenght subtitle added throughout the whole movie. Thanks for your input.

More and more DVDs are coming encoded with Dolby surround sound and many don't have an alternate Dolby stereo option. The resulting sound has way too much background noise mixed in, making it hard to hear the dialogue. Usually, we turn down the volume and turn on the closed captions. During some insomnia nights, some years ago, I was lucky enough to come across with Of Beauty and Consolation on the tv, which was an English translation of the dutch tv program Van de Schoonheid en de Troost. The program is a series of interviews with intellectuals. The Richard Rorty interview is available on-line. Now I'm trying to get the DVD box, and it seems there is a dutch version available, but since I don't know a word of dutch, I'm trying to find the English version. Anyone can help this quest?
