So I'm installing a new dishwasher. I've yanked the power cable from the old one (not paying a bit of attention as to how it was connected, of course), and now I haven't a clue as to how to attach it to the new one. [more inside]

I have a standard cable television cord that runs from through a small hole in my living room floor (coming up from the basement). I would like to re-route this cable to another part of the house. The problem is that the connector on the end of the cable is too big to fit into the hole. Is there an easy way to disconnect this bit so I can pull the cord through the hole (and reattach it after I create a hole in a different room)?

Is there some way to get rope or cording which won't fall apart after a summer in the hot southern Arizona sun? Last year I installed some roll down window shades made of bamboo to take the brunt of the sun that was otherwise streaming in the windows. These aren't the most well constructed shades ever invented, but they did admirably at providing a cheap solution to shading my windows from the intensely hot summer. [more inside]

Our next door neighbor offered to split the cost of a cord of wood with us, and we agreed. However, it ends up our neighbor bought wood that is not quite cured yet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we might speed up the curing process? Is this even possible?

I brought my flat-panel Imac home from work over the break, and forgot the power cord. It's a two hour round trip, so I was wondering if it's possible to hack a PC power cord and get it to fit into the Imac's clover-shaped receptacle. Or, if there's another way around this.

Electricity: I'm wiring up a new dishwasher with the power cord from the old dishwasher. Just to make things interesting, the power cord has absolutely no indication of which side is positive and which side is negative. Is this because it's AC and it doesn't matter? I'm in the US on 110.
