I just spent one week in Hyderabad, India. The food was tasty, but the effect on my GI tract was amazing, and I am desperate to emulate this back home. But how? (TMI inside)

Embarrassing, uncomfortable digestive condition - what the heck is it? I regularly experience pain, constipation, bloating, and flatulence. I also get rashes regularly. I eat healthy and drink lots of water. Bread seems to trigger it - is it IBS, celiac, or something else?

Dear Penthouse Forum, I never thought I'd be writing about - oh wait.
Dear Metafilter, I never thought I'd be writing about GI issues but here goes.
After a three week bout with perhaps GERD, for the first time EVER that I can recall and I do mean EVER, I am quite constipated.

Our daughter frequently suffers from constipation. It's her two year doctor visit in a couple of days. Looking for anecdotes and experiences from anyone with a toddler with a similar history that we can raise with the doctor.

Help us settle a dispute. Is cheap, supermarket white bread
made with finer flour than artisanal sourdough bread? And if so, does the fine white flour lead to more gastrointestinal upset because "it becomes glue in your stomach"?

Pooping has become increasingly difficult and I think something inside my colon is blocking my ability to defecate. Thoughts? (Kinda gross, but not really.)

sometimes i get constipated - sometimes when i get constipated, thanks to a super weak stomach, i throw up. this lasts just as long as i can feel the rock of poop in my side. today is a particularly bad round of it. to complicate matters, i'm hypoglycemic and have heartburn from time to time. so, now i'm constipated, puking, shaking from the lack of food, and i have wicked heartburn. what to do?

My niece lives in New Mexico where she has a small ranch and stable. One of her horses is very ill with constipation. The horse is at the vet's and they are using standard treatment (oil?) but so far with very little result.
Any advice, the situation is getting pretty severe and my niece is worried sick.

According to this bag of prunes I'm eating, one serving only has 3 grams of fiber, which doesn't sound like very much. So (a) how did prunes get a reputation for being a cure for constipation and (b) is there something else I should be eating to get the desired effect?

Do Bananas constipate or do they do the opposite? My daughter needs to eat foods that make stool soft. Some people have told me to feed her bananas and others say to stay away from them. Which is the truth?
