I'm directing a farce with a bunch of high-schoolers, and would love to give them some movie suggestions to look at for characters. They are pretty classic comic archetypes, but my brain is reeling a bit trying to think of all of them, and though I'd put it out to the hive mind. The only catch is that I can't really suggest any R-Rated movies, because most of them aren't old enough to watch them... [more inside]

Forgotten Radio Show/Proto-Podcast Filter -- I first found these recordings in '99 or '00. I have only hazy memories, but I'm hoping this will jog someone's memory. In the mid eighty's there was a comedian that did a piece on godzilla. Basically he acted like a badly dubbed godzilla film with mouth movements out of sync with voice saying "look out" "godzilla's going to trample the city again". Anyone know who he was or remember the sketch?

Just saw Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. I feel like the storyline, (i.e. guy/girl is hung up on his/her good-looking-yet-lame ex, meets a smart cool new person, and ends up rejecting their old flame for said new love interest when old flame gets jealous / comes around too late), has been used plenty to the point of cliche. Problem is, I can't think of any examples! Can anyone give me some? Thanks!

Prior to '05, I saw a repeat of Premium Blend which featured a performance by a comedian with a joke about playing opera in her car; she illustrated the hilarity vis-a-vis prejudice by singing a bit of it. Picking up most culture by osmosis, I've long loved whatever the piece was from, but have no idea what it is. Also, she was hilarious and I'd like to find more by her. [more inside]

Looking for a streaming radio station, or podcast that has upbeat music, funny samples and dj's, so I can laugh first thing in the morning during my morning routine.
But here's the rub, I'm not looking for comedy shows, or vapid commentary. Something a little more tasteful and subtle than your run of the mill morning crap that pollutes the airwaves and makes me depressed about humanity.

Based on the current influx of questions about stand-up comedians, I've been reminded of a question that has been plaguing me for a while. But unfortunately, I don't have much information.
- Male. 40+ yrs old. Dressed plainly.
- Opened for Lewis Black at the Univ. of Connecticut in the Fall/Winter of 2006 or 2007
- Shtick was borderline psychotic. Like he was extremely angry and ready to snap. Genuinely scared me a little at the beginning. He never really left this personality.
- Worked the crowd a little and even left the stage to walk through the crowd.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Back in the late 90s, I think in the winter of 1997-8, I saw a stand-up comedian on Conan O'Brien that blew me away but I've never been able to track him down since. I think his name was David Jerusalem. He made jokes about the Olympics and having been a heroin addict. He didn't perform in front of a mic but was interviewed by Conan. I've been trying to find information about this guy for years without success, does my description ring any bells for you? [more inside]
