My partner and I are planning a cross-country trip from Austin, TX to Seattle, WA, during which we want to have several days-long backpacking trips. We originally wanted to do Zion, Black Canyon of Gunnison, Grand Tetons and Glacier, but aside from Black Canyon booking the other places seems difficult to impossible. Looking for advice on the likelihood of getting to do it in those parks in May, as well as alternate backpacking possibilities should these fail. [more inside]
We are looking to stay in (or near) Salida, Colorado over Thanksgiving. [more inside]
I've managed over the years to collect a version of Saul Steinberg's View Of The World From 9th Avenue for every city I've ever called home...including some pretty obscure places. For the life of me, though, I cannot find one of Denver, Colorado. [more inside]
Family member found a lost kitty at a KOA campground in Colorado. Can Metafilter find her lost humans? Mefites have pulled off wonders before...can we do it again? [more inside]
I just got a job offer but am in a pretty good place now. I'm trying to decide whether I should take it. Part of that decision is also deciding if I should move to Colorado from Boston. [more inside]
My boyfriend and I are travel novices, so we need advice about whether this is an OK idea or a stupid plan. (Southwest Airlines/air travel edition.) [more inside]
My hiking buddy and I are going to spend this Saturday through Tuesday car camping in Estes Park, Colorado. We are relatively experienced hikers and backpackers, but most of our miles have been logged in the White Mountains and neither of us has ever been to Colorado. What are some challenging and rewarding day hikes that we should do? What things do we need to consider when hiking in RMNP? [more inside]
I'm planning on flying into Denver and doing a solo roadtrip for a few days in southern Colorado, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with the territory. Should I get an SUV, or is that unnecessary -- especially given that I've never really driven one? (Itinerary suggestions welcome!) [more inside]
I have a chronic pain condition and have failed all standard treatments. Today, my doctor closed the door and straight out recommended that I seek out marijuana. I live in a state where it's not legal and have no clue how to find marijuana. Help? [more inside]
My ex and I are trying to figure out how to transfer the house to her without me losing all of my equity. Unfortunately, she can't afford to just buy me out, and can't qualify for a new mortgage on the remaining loan balance if she's got a loan to me as well. I'm looking for recommendations on finding a lawyer to help vet a legal agreement, and any specific legal methods for making this happen. This is in Denver, Colorado. [more inside]
I recently went through three rounds of interviews for a promising 100% work-from-home remote job. After a long week or waiting to hear back, I was told that I've been removed from the running due to my home state's tax laws. I'm not sure where to begin fact-checking this, but this is the sort of fact I find irresistible to check, especially given the context. The employer is located in Boston, MA. [more inside]
I need to go from Keystone to the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus the morning of 3 April 2015. So far, my best option seems to be to take an early morning Colorado Mountain Express shuttle to Denver International Airport, and then take a taxi to UC Denver. The first CME shuttle that goes directly downtown doesn't arrive until 12:30 p.m. I don't want to rent a car. Are there better options?
New to Colorado, grew up skiing a couple times a year on the east coast, then stopped for a while. Now I have a local season pass. Help me acclimate to skiing out west once a week or so this winter, given my current abilities, gear, budget, and goals. [more inside]
We will be traveling to Denver later this month and would really like to check out some alternative comic shops, if there are any! A Google search turns up general comic shops, but results on alt comic, zine-y shops are few. Any tips on some cool places would be great! Thinking along the lines of Oily comics, etc.
We are moving to Colorado, primarily for extended family closeness reasons. Tell us about your favorite Colorado towns and cities! [more inside]
I am looking for help locating a large souvenir coffee mug coveted by a close friend. [more inside]
My wife and I had to move our road trip to the Telluride area back a couple of weeks to the first week of October. I'm worried that we will be greeted with bare aspen trees! I know that the timing of peak color can change from year to year, so I realize that any advice is just a best guess. So, are we in luck? Thanks!
My husband is interviewing in Denver this week and seems to have a good shot at getting the job. We currently live in Meridian, Idaho (just outside of Boise) and have lived here practically our entire lives. I've never lived out of state, though my husband has. Help this security-needing, plan-making, organizational freak make sense of a big-for-me move! [more inside]
What's the coolest hotel/inn/B&B you'd recommend in Boulder, CO for one night?
As a consumer I'm evaluating their bias in helping me find installers, but I can't find it's affiliations & organizational structure. [more inside]

OK, perhaps a longshot (but MeFi is always amazing)... my daughter is doing an article on the Beatles at Red Rocks in 1964 and would love to interview someone who was actually there. Anyone?
I'm heading to Denver this weekend, and I'm planning to enjoy Colorado's fine range of entirely-goddamn-legal-after-I've-been-fighting-for-it-since-the-1990s marijuana! Which shop(s) should I visit? Which strains should I try? Weed-friendly hotels? [more inside]
I'm a New Yorker who is completely willing to move to a new area for work and a change of pace. With Colorado legalizing marijuana starting January 1st, I find myself interested in working in what will certainly become a lucrative industry. Without specific experience, is that possible? [more inside]
The good news is that my wife and I are preparing to make a big move to the Denver, CO area. The better news is that we've found a great house and they've accepted our offer. Now we just need a home inspector. Can you recommend one? [more inside]
My uncle and his brothers are camping in Estes park, no one has heard from them since Thursday, I'm just finding out now. My brother and I are in Denver (rest of the family is in St. Louis). What can we do? Where should we be looking to see if they've checked in anywhere? Are there any organizations listing names of people who have been rescued but are still without cell/Internet service, or does the fact that we haven't heard from them mean that they are likely still stranded somewhere? [more inside]
I absolutely need to move. I'm feeling very stuck in my father's suburban Texas home. I've been in Colorado for the last week and I don't want to leave. I feel that this is a place where I can be healthy and take control of my life. It's so beautiful. But I'm overwhelmed. I need some guidance, I'm willing to make a lot of sacrifices to relocate to Colorado but I don't know how to make it happen. [more inside]
Due to a ridiculous series of events, I am in quasi-possession of some land in Huerfano County, Colorado. Due to what I understand is a Colorado-specific difficult process of inheritance, the land (in my late wife's name) is more expensive to transfer to me than it is worth and since it is in her name, I can't even gift it. It costs me $100 or more annually to hold onto this acreage, and I am considering abandoning it. [more inside]
Planning a spontaneous, very-short-notice 6-day trip to Colorado. I'll arrive at DIA and will rent a car. Looking for killer outdoorsy itinerary suggestions!

I have the opportunity to take a new job in Boulder, Colorado, and I need to figure out if I'd enjoy living there. [more inside]
The subsection of the Colorado Constitution, “General Consideration” under Article III, Distribution of Powers, gives more than thirty-five examples of why and how separation of powers between the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government must be. They all seem to say the same thing, but they all are justified by different dictums, references and notations. Why, at least in Colorado and I suspect, in other states, is there the need for so much specificity as it relates to the republican tripartite system?
Help from Colorado Mefites! I'm driving right now from Silverthorne, CO to Durango, CO and want to find a nice scenic backdrop of the Rockies for some photos. Between not knowing the area very well and finding out about closed roads, I'm having a hard time figuring out where to go. Ideally, it would be a place we can take pictures of our car with nearly nothing in the background but beautiful mountains. Ideas? Thank you in advance!
I (foolishly) let a plant with thorns and sharp leaves get rather large next to my house. Now I'm finding it tough to tear it all out because it's so well established. Can anybody help me identify the plant so I can try to figure out if I'm killing enough of it so that it won't come back? I live in Colorado. A picture of the plant is here and a close up of the yellow flowers/leaves is here. [more inside]
My fella and I will be in Estes Park and Golden, Colorado for the week of May 26th-June 1st. We planned on doing a lot of hiking. We've had our fingers crossed for good weather, but it's starting to look like we may have to have some backup plans. Help! [more inside]
What are nice places to go out for dinner in or around Lafayette, Colorado? (Going as far as Boulder would be fine, too, if you have recommendations.) Looking to spend about $100 for a couple, maybe more if it is worth the added expense. No real limitations, diet-wise, but they like vegetarian or fish with good beer.
My girlfriend and I are visiting Denver in mid-June for five days, primarily to see Devotchka to play at Red Rocks - but we're keen to do a bit of sightseeing as well. Our current plan is to go straight from DIA to Estes Park via shuttle bus, stay there for a couple of days, do some hikes, etc, then (somehow?!) get to Downtown Denver. We'd drop our bags there, get a taxi (or similar) to Red Rocks and back for the concert, and then head to DIA. Hiring a car isn't an option... does this sound sane? [more inside]
Last-minute trip to Denver starting March 6. I'll have wed-fri and then monday for me-time in the city and I plan to do my usual routine whenever in a new city: investigate it as a possible future home. [more inside]
3 coworkers want to plan a 4-5 day ski trip, probably to Colorado, in mid-to-late March. Convenience is key (we want to spend more time skiing and less time traveling), budget is roughly $1,000-$2,000 (including airfare, transit, lodging, ski/board+boot rentals, and lift tickets). Where do we go? [more inside]
My boyfriend is taking me on my first ski trip to Beaver Creek, Colorado. This is my first time both skiing and seeing the Rockies. Besides skiing and relaxing sore muscles in a hot tub afterward, what else is a must see or must do in this area? Thanks!

I was registered to vote in Weld county in 2008. Earlier this month I moved a few miles away to a town that happens to be in Weld county (Firestone, Co to Frederick, Co). Can I still vote in the 2012 election? Do I need to change any information before I vote?
