Help me pick a great gift for my boyfriend’s dad. I’m spending Christmas Day with my partner’s family. They do a Kris Kringle for the adults, and I’ve drawn my partner’s father. I’ve only met him twice (the dad, not my partner). He seems lovely but I have absolutely no idea what to get him. I’ve asked my boyfriend of course, but he is not exactly brimming with ideas. Help!

I decided to buy my wife a small Medieval LARP weapons cache for Christmas. I know she will like it, but I want to wrap this gift so it will really wow her. I am in need of a clever or creative suggestion to put together this gift - without spending more than about 25 bucks on some sort of the thematic presentation. Help me tie up the best gift ever!

My 4.5 year old got to play with my friend's Ipod Touch, loved it, and is now adamant that Santa is bringing her one. This ain't going to happen. However, I would like to find her some kind of age-appropriate equivalent toy for Christmas. We don't do huge Christmas celebrations or massively expensive gift-giving, so this will be her big present, even if it's under $75. What can you recommend that won't make her ultra-disappointed (understanding that disappointment is a part of life, yadda yadda yadda)?

Help me find this childrens book please! I had this scratch and sniff Christmas/winter book when I was a kid in the late 80's early 90's. I vaguely recall the characters were the kind that don't have mouths. And just a little button nose. The book had a picture of a Christmas tree that smelled like pine, a cup of chocolate that smelled like chocolate. And so on. I can't remember much else but would love to find this. Thanks!

I am looking for Christmas music that is mostly melancholy, and often about loss or abandonment. Think Joni Mitchell's the River or Tom Waite's Christmas Card from A Hooker in Minneapolis. Any suggestions?

I have a relative who enjoys Drambuie but absolutely hates the bottle redesign from last year. Is there anywhere in the US where I can still buy it in the old style bottle? Ideally somewhere in the area between Detroit, Michigan and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania? I realize I can buy an empty bottle on eBay or what have you and present it as a "decanter" with a new bottle, but I'm hoping I can maybe find a place with a cache of the old style bottles.

My wonderful sister, who is now in Heaven, made these great Christmas stockings for my family, and let me tell you, there were 10 of us. Later on she continued to knit for spouses, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, etc. But now she is gone, and I would like to find this pattern so that I can continue Her “mission” on my side of the family.
I remember her her saying that the pattern was a very specific one, all the designs with the red background and different intarsia motifs. The names were embroidered.
Please, if anyone has this pattern, I would be so thankful if you would share it with me. The Stockings are more or less 22.5” length by 7”. See photos at
here and
here.
Thanks! Mercedes

Husband and I are thinking of going to Savannah, Georgia during the Christmas holidays. The threads here on Savannah as to where to go and eat have been very helpful. My question is, if we plan to arrive in Savannah on Christmas Day and stay for about 5, 6 days, will the shops and restaurants be open during that period? Or will they likely be closed for the holidays. Oh, we'll probably drive to Charleston too, so it would be helpful to know if the city closes down during the holiday season as well. Thanks!
