What gift can I offer my anglophile 13-year-old niece ? [more inside]
Every year I look forward to BBC Radio's Christmas music specials (especially choral concerts), including the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve. In 2005 the Beeb broadcast a concert called 'Carols by Candlelight' by the Chapter House Choir that was delightful. And so every year, I scan the schedules of the various BBC Radio services to see what I can find, but I invariably miss something or other (I'm in the US, btw). For all you radioheads in the UK: is there an all-in-one place to go that has a complete list of that kind of thing?
What should I do with 60 Jaffa Cakes? [more inside]
I need to get from Bedford to Solihull near Birmingham, UK, on Christmas Day, ideally via public transport. I have no idea if this is possible but it's looking like it might not be. Help! [more inside]
Christmasgiftfilter: I am in England. I'm looking for suggestions for little gifts to take to the American family. Or generic gift suggestion lists. [more inside]
What are some UK Christmas holiday traditions? [more inside]
As a child, I was an American expat, growing up in Scotland. This time of year I have many fond memories of Christmas Pantomines, Christmas Pudding, Paper Crowns & Crackers, 'Cadbury's Christmas Selection Boxes,' etc.' I also remember getting copies of year-end "annuals," particularly the 'Beano Annual' and the 'Blue Peter Annual.' There were many others, but I am at a loss for remembering their titles. What are/were some of the others published at Christmastime?
Could someone in the UK send me the 2004 Beano Annual before Christmas? It's for my 5 year old. If someone knows how to get it in the US that works too. I'd pay via Paypal or whatever.
