I am looking for a book or a movie geared at younger kids (mine is 7), that would start a conversation about things not always being as they appear. Kinda like how toys on TV never end up to be as cool as they look, or how some people make promises that sound good, but they just don't deliver. I'd like to help my daughter start to develop the intelligence and skill set to truly discern the difference between substance and smoke.

Are there such things as Mutual Adoption Clubs as imagined in Aldous Huxley's novel,
Island? I'm looking for something like this, also similar to a Kibbutz or Co-op where a few families that are close friends live near each other (Sharing a house, being neighbors, living in the same apartment building, or maybe just in the same neighborhood). Families share child-rearing responsibilities primarily. Does anyone do this in a more-or-less structured fashion?

We are creating a tablet that purifies water and delivers a nutritious "juice". However we are designers, not chemists, and we need some basic guidance.
Would it be problematic to combine chlorine (or preferably, a safer purification chemical) with a vitamin-based juice powder or liquid? Are there any health dangers to consider with this mixture?

[SmallMouseFilter]My sister has two adopted children, ages 3 and 1.5. The 3-year-old is quite adept with the mouse for their desktop PC, but struggles with the size of said mouse. I've looked around for smaller, kid-sized mice, but all of them are wired. The Google-Fu in this one is weak. Anyone have experience with a "mini" mouse that is also
wireless?

My Daughter and her amazing 2 children live with me. Granddaughter is two, Grandson is 9 months. Both of them have amazing personalities, they certainly won't grow up unable to express their needs or desires.
Long story short they are very intelligent, curious busy children who require a great deal of attention and activity. We are searching for age appropriate, safe, stimulating activities that will enrich their lives while also giving them structure.
They are both bright, determined, expressive children who exceed the expected development of other children their age. (I'm not tooting my Grandma horn, they really are quite unique and motivated at a very young age)
So anyone else out there with children like this, I would love suggestions, activities, movies, books, toys etc. that would keep them busy, happy and challenged!

I live in NYC, where there are classes for children starting at birth. Baby yoga and soccer for 18 month olds and visual art as soon as they can stand. What are the best ages to start learning specialized things (assuming one is interested), like piano, ballet, swimming, baseball, soccer, chess, trapeze, animal husbandry, foreign language, martial arts, theater, etc.? I took gymnastics when I was nine and found that anyone who was competitively good at it had begun at six.
