We are moving to the out of the country soon, and I'd like advice on how to tell my kids. What I've found online at other sites has been....less than helpful, so any personal advice or good links appreciated. Possibly relevant details inside.

Where can adults and kids hang out together in New York?
We're visiting New York, where we used to live, for a weekend. We want to arrange an informal gathering so we can see all our friends. Last time we did this, we held it at Bar Veloce in Chelsea, which was perfect. But that was before we, and many of our friends, had small children. What's a pleasant place to meet in Manhattan where 25 or so adults, many accompanied by babies and toddlers, can hang out for a Sunday evening, talk, get drinks and something to eat, and not worry that our kids are going to destroy something?

Where can you have sex (together, as a couple) in NYC when you can't do it at your place? In our case, it's hard to get wild when the babysitter is taking care of our baby daughter in the other room. We don't want to pay $150 for a hotel room when all we need is a couple of hours. What are our alternatives?
