Where do you go when you've graduated from IKEA and are ready for decent, but not necessarily heirloom quality furniture? We're just hoping to find some stuff to carry us through the next 8-10 years, or is that unrealistic? How much should we honestly expect to spend?

We've just moved into a cute rental house in Hillcrest, San Diego and our front patio is absolutely begging for a cute little bistro table and chairs. I'm looking for suggestions with a budget of no more than $150 and we're perfectly willing to use Craigslist or eBay.
My question is, what colors would go best with the current paint scheme? My instinct is that black would probably work, but it seems like we could do better.
Here is the house. The planters can be moved or removed entirely.

I have an apartment where adding in more seating is needed but I don't want another couch, but do want couch-density seating. I want something that makes sitting yoga-style on my hardwood floors more comfortable. What should I buy, and where should I buy it?

Email mystery: I run a theatre company called Folding Chair Classical Theatre. The company's email address is the first two words of its name, an at sign, and gmail dot com. For the last several years, I've been getting emails (maybe four a year) from people trying to order folding chairs. The wording of these emails is all very similar to each other, which makes me wonder if this is some kind of scam. But if so, what's the angle?

What kind of table do I want and where can I get it? We've been unhappy with our dining table for some time now, it's too big (tall), it scratches easy, and seems to require near constant care because it's also serving as two people's work table. I'm looking for a small informal table that can work easily as a dining table and a work desk. Is there a name for the kind of table I want and where can I find it in the NYC area. Details follow.

I'm staying in an Embassy Suites hotel in Chicago this week.
Today, I returned to the hotel to see that on three of the lower floors, each room had a stack of exactly two identical chairs placed outside the door. This struck me as really odd.
What does it mean? Is it some kind of code for housekeeping or management?

Seating at a restaurant. I understand that in one-on-one situations, etiquette suggests that lady is offered the seat with the view into the room, and the gentleman takes the seat facing the wall.
This and other sites seem to agree. But what if the "wall" is floor-to-ceiling glass with nice views of the outside?

I am looking for a work chair that I can take along with me on my business travels - something portable that would provide a level of comfort and functionality that was, at least, remotely similar to my Aeron at home. I know this is a VERY TALL order, so if there are any suggestions for chairs that would simply let me work comfortably in a hotel room - the crappy chairs in those are horrible - I'd appreciate that, as well.

When I was on Dallas on business last month, I saw
these, which seem to a be a pile of memory-foam like substance, wrapped in cloth. Though it was comfortable, it seemed a bit pricey for what it was. Anyone seen anything similar, or know where I could find that foam that's inside to make my own?

Recently my computer chair (a cheap Office store model) bit the bullet, and I want something a little longer lasting (3 chairs in 5 years), what do you recommend? I'm looking for something like the
Aeron Chair but hopefully less expensive! What's out there? (and if I get the Aeron, is it all it's cracked up to be?)
