Been giving my cat Kashered chicken - raw or cooked for a while now. Even though the salt is washed out thoroughly no doubt something is left and that doesn't sound like something a cat would be needing in their body.
Now she's sick with a yet undiagnosed disease. Thoughts are creeping in that maybe the salt in the
kashered chicken caused it.

My cat is sneezing in relatively violent, rapid-fire outbursts of 5 - 10 seconds. The nose and eyes are not discharging anything. She'll just sit up from where she's taking a nap, sneeze a whole bunch of times in a row really fast, then lay down again. This cat has an auto-immune disorder and has taken prednisone for the last year or so. I took her to the vet a week ago for a checkup and I told the vet about the sneezing, which at the time wasn't that bad. The vet said if it got worse, I should bring my cat back in and she'd give her a round of antibiotics to see if that knocked it out, though there was nothing to indicate it was a virus. I wasn't impressed with that answer. In the last couple of days, the sneezing has become slightly more frequent. Any idea what I should do or what this might be? If the advice is go to the vet, would you recommend another vet?

I just found what looks like mosquito larvae in my cat's water bowl. I use one of those
automatic waterers where there is a gallon or so of water in a upside down container, feeding a small bowl of perhaps 2 cup capacity. In the large upside down container, there was actually one live, flying mosquito. In the small bowl that my cat actually drinks from, there were approximately a dozen apparent larvae, about 1/4" to 1/3" in length.
Should I be concerned for my pet's health at all? I am not sure how long they were in there, but I changed the water for fresh immediately.

What options can you suggest for replacing carpet in a "catbox room" with something moisture-resistant and easily cleaned? Some of the cats occasionally get confused and miss the boxes. The sub-floor is plywood. I've been thinking along the lines of the 2-part epoxy coating I applied to the concrete garage floor several years ago, but don't know if it works well on wood, which flexes. Flooring companies have pointed out problems with conventional floor coverings either absorbing or being etched by cat urine. The room has a wood-burning stove in it, so something that won't burst into flame if exposed to an occasional ember would be best. X/

My cat
Trilby has nearly destroyed the cat scratcher I bought for him when I adopted him a year and a half ago, and it’s time for a new scratching post. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced, durable, modest-sized cat scratcher? Those “emery board” scratchers sound great in theory because I wouldn’t have to cut Trilby’s claws anymore. But they’ve gotten so many negative reviews online and most of the positive reviews smell like spam. Do any of you use them, or failing that, does your cat?

Another kitty question.
My kitten will shortly have been with me for two weeks, and I plan to start letting her go outside. At first it will be supervised sessions only, but I want to eventually put in a cat flap and let her outdoors during the day time whenever she wants. What can I do to keep her as safe as possible?

I understand that the best cat diet is exclusively wet food. Kittens are supposed to eat small portions every few hours. I am asleep all night and at work for 8 hours during the day. Can I leave wet food out for free feeding or will it go bad? What if she won't eat left-out food?

About a year ago my cat developed the habit of chewing on fabric. I can't leave clothes anywhere in his reach now, because anytime I do he chews on them (I have had to throw out many articles of clothing due to this.) My bedding is also full of holes, and I'd like to get new blankets and sheets but know there would be no point as long as he'd just chew them up too. I can't spray my whole bed with anything bitter, and I'd really prefer not to have to start shutting him out of the bedroom because he usually sleeps at the foot of the bed. What can I do to end this behavior? Help

I am fostering a seven year old cat as of last Thursday. She is vomiting her food every other day, but still urinating and defecating. Is this nerves due to big changes in her life, a need for a change in cat food, or should I take her to the vet?
