I had to replace my credit card this week due to fraud. I've received a super basic (no pretty image, no bank name, no chip, etc.) temporary card until my permanent one arrives. Just tried to use the temporary one, and was declined. Called up the credit card company and was told that the purchase was declined by the retailer because the card does not have a chip. Is this correct? Do some retailers only accept chip cards? I actually had to go through this whole new card number process not two months ago, and this was never an issue during that go around (even using it during interstate travel).
I need between 50 and 100 ID card lanyards, and ID cards, preferably all of them looking different. It's for one person looking like a scarecrow of IDs, he's helplessly overloaded by lanyards and cards. So they all have to be a bit different. [more inside]

My debit card was stolen. Normally this would be a no-big-deal, happens-all-the-time kind of situation, but this particular card had never left the house and seems to have been stolen from the kitchen table. Please help me decide what to do. [more inside]
Fraudulent charges were made to my debit card. In the end my bank has taken the hit and refunded all the stolen money. However, I’d like to understand how it happened. [more inside]
I am looking for an interesting card and a little box or envelope big enough to give something the size of a silver dollar. The gift is for an illustrator so I am feeling self-conscious about getting something they will really appreciate. Handmade, beautiful, interesting, well designed would be notes I want to hit. Ideally in NYC but mail order could be OK too.
I'm getting some heavy horizontal banding when I try to print a colour image using my Epson WF-3520 printer. I have checked the conventional sources of advice and tried cleaning the nozzles and aligning the print heads. But I'm still getting the banding! Can anyone advise? [more inside]
Hey guys, I have a business in Costa Rica that specializes in tourism and does about $20-$30K of business per month. Does anyone out there know of the best possible option for accepting credit card payments in Costa Rica? Right now we are working through paypal but its certainly not ideal (and neither is requesting cash from our clients). I have already seen and heard of some of these third party entities withholding funds and even denying funds in Costa Rica (and elsewhere). Also, some of the rates on these things look ridiculous. Any help is obviously greatly appreciated!

I have a stack of 4 cards, 3 of which have RFID. When I tap this stack of cards on readers, they interfere with each other, and nothing gets read. What can I do to ensure that the card closest to the reader gets read? Can I buy or create some kind of shielding card to put behind the bottom card, in order to prevent interference with the other RFID cards? [more inside]

Does anybody on the green know of an individual or company that can translate documents from Spanish to English for green card immigration purposes. The form states that "a full English translation that the translator has certified is correct, and by the translators certification that they are comptent to translate foreign language into English" is needed. Nothing specific on what certification.

I'd like to mess around with the square readers and see if it would be possible to "hack" it (to use the parlance of our time) and get it to accept EBT food stamp cards as well as other types of payment and currency. Is it possible to do this? Has anybody had any success with this? What should I learn to be able to do something like this, hack the square reader. Thanks
I live in Toronto I recently started a full-time job (two weeks ago) and I've been using a debit card (with RBC) for the past five years. I didn't want to get a credit card because I didn't want to get sucked into the system. But yesterday changed my outlook on things, so I decided to apply for a low interest card. Question is, what options do I have and would I get accepted? [more inside]

Fell on some hard times in the last two years, blah blah blah... Anyways...We built up about $18,000 in credit card debt, with little savings left.... What's a sensitive Thank You card wording for the surviving widow of one of my friends? She sent us a gift for our recent wedding even after he passed away (and subsequently I did not invite her alone, but had sent a Save-the-Date when he was alive). I'm probably over thinking this but I don't want to trigger anything emotional. I don't really know her. I want to show incredible gratitude while acknowledging her loss. This is something I have not dealt with fortunately in other instances. [more inside]
In January, I got my business successfully running, paid off and closed a bunch of personal credit cards, and began making a decent amount of money. Now I'm in a place to start opening credit cards and rebuilding my credit. Last time I looked (10 years ago), there were ways to open new credit card accounts, and as long as you were responsible about always paying off all of your balances at the end of every month, you could get bunches of free flights and bonuses and things. I recall people who played with new account bonuses as a relatively lucrative game. Is this still a thing? Is it worth the time?
I'm shopping around for a credit card for the first time in ages - I've decided airline miles are a sucker's game, and just want something more straightforward. I'd like to know if there's anything really forward-thinking going on in the credit card world, because it all looks like "fees versus rates versus weird points schemes". If you have a credit card that you love (or hate) can you tell me why? FWIW, good credit, revolve occasionally (once a year or so?), and willing to pay a fee for something truly good. I've looked at previous questions but it feels like the landscape changes so quickly!

I have a Visa credit card though an airline rewards program. I moved last year and have rarely been flying on that airline recently, since they don't have a lot of flights out of my current location. Since I'm not getting much out of the rewards, I'd like to change to another rewards program (not airline-related) that I'm sure to use more. I don't want to unnecessarily hurt my credit history by canceling the card and opening a new one. The new rewards card I'm interested in is also Visa, and offered through the same bank as my current card. Is there a way I can keep the same credit card account and simply switch reward programs?
I have near perfect credit. I only use my Discover card that I have rewards on and pay off the balance every month. I do have a credit card from a credit union that I never use. I just received a letter in the mail that stated that the credit union credit card is about to expire and won't be reissued due to inactivity. Will this affect my credit? If I don't care about the card, should I just let it "die"? Thanks

Aside from whether I should or why I should care what address I give a credit card company or bank, I am wondering whether the Patriot Act actually does allow consumers to give companies a business street address. I need to sign up for a new credit card and am looking for one that is as socially/environmentally responsible as possible (i.e. not tied to big banks, corporations and/or oil companies who would be profiting off me as a consumer and doing bad things with that profit). Does such a card exist? I've searched online but am wary of bias.

Every time I go to the hospital for a routine visit, I get a plastic card that looks kind of like a credit card, embossed with my name, my age, my birthday, my doctor's name, and the date and reason of the visit. No one ever asks to see this card; no one looks at it. I get a new card every time. It seems expensive and wasteful -- does anyone know why they do it?
A few days ago my mom got a bill for a department store credit card, Dress Barn issued by Comenity bank, she opened up 5 years ago. Today, my bank's fraud detection department gave me a call - apparently, somebody had attempted to use my debit card for a purchase in Colombia. I live in London, UK. This is an annoyance, but it's particularly worrying because something similar happened less than two months ago - they called me up and said that although my card hadn't been used, they had information that it may be compromised. The card that was used in Colombia today was the replacement, which I've had for only a few weeks. My money is safe and my card has been cancelled (again). But my main concern is HOW this has happened - keylogger? Dubious, but legit-seeming site? Compromised wifi? And how do I keep myself safe in future? [more inside]
