Why can't my laptop get my photos off my camera? I have a Canon Powershot TX1, and all of a sudden, my laptop stopped "seeing" the photos on it. I have a Canon Ixus 65 and I want to get the photos off the camera and onto my iPhoto-less Mac (10.4.10). I tried to go to Canon's website to download their Image Browser software but I can only find an update that works if you have a previous version of Image Browser on your computer. Time to update my Canon G2... but I really like the swivel LCD. Does anyone make a high-end digital camera (pref with exchangeable lenses) that has a swivel LCD? If not, why not? Is there some negative to it that I should be aware of?

Will image stabilization on Digital Cameras stabilize the video recording as well? I have a Canon Elph, which does not have IS. I was looking at the Canon SD700 IS, but only if it worked for recording video too.
I have an older Sony TRV-22 handicam that has steadyshot, but I find using the digital elph much more convenient. Great photos, and nice video quality too, except the obvious lack of video stabilization.

I’m no photographer, but a friend has asked me to use her Canon A610 camera to take a few photos of some kids, who’ll be wearing pageant costumes, in what she says is a large, high-ceilinged, windowless room lit by bright fluorescent lights. I can’t get to the room early and won’t have time to experiment once I’m there. What setting(s) should I use on this camera? (Assume I’ve considered and rejected the possibility of using a different camera or hiring a photographer.) I’d like to be able to give her decently-lit pictures with natural-looking color.

Digital Camera Filter: I have a Canon Powershot A300 that I have used for a couple years, but recently got strange lines that appear on my pictures.

If a digital camera says it can handle USB 2.0, does that mean it won't work in a USB 1.0 port? I'm in the market for a digital camera, and have been looking at the Canon PowerShot series, namely the A620, SD450, and SD600. All of these have USB 2.0 listed as the interface. However, my 800mhz G4 Powerbook has USB 1.0. Does this mean those cameras won't play nice with my laptop?

My 5 year old jvc dvm90 minidv/still camera just gave up. It's my only digital still camera, so I want to get another, but don't have much money now. I was always disappointed by the low light filming any way. Hello. I just found out the new Canon D20 digital SLR we use in the office doesn't allow one to use the LCD for framing - it can only be used for playback. This seems odd to me, since the Nikon digital SLR (and every single compact digital camera) I had used previously did. Is there some kind of firmware update or hack that would allow the LCD to be used as a finder? It would be tremendously helpful to be able to use it as such, especially when the icons relating to camera state etc. are all superimposed on top of the image on the PCD. I'm surprised that this camera doesn't allow that, when other digital SLRs (and all of Canon's lower-end cameras) do.

I'm thinking of buying the new Nikon D70 digital, Nikons answer to the Canon Rebel. What lens should I get? I want to do travel photography big landscapes, nature, and occasional cultural/people shots. Someone mentioned this 17-35mm as very good but is that the best for this kind of photography?
