I'm in Canada and planning on buying a kindle, and am currently deciding whether I should buy a Kindle 3G, or stick with the Wi-fi only model. I'd like to use it at the cottage, where there is no Internet Access, but (not-so-great) 3G coverage. It seems like there are some restrictions on international kindles that don't exist in the U.S. [more inside]

My Palm Pre recently gave up the ghost 2 years into a 3 year contract with Bell Canada. I'd like to get a new Android phone with a good physical keyboard and a touchscreen. I'm not looking for specific phone suggestions, but places to do research: How do I know what models will work with bell, can I buy them away from bell and then use them with my existing plan, what sites have reliable reviews and what are just churning them out for a quick turnover. I'm a Canadian going to be traveling in Europe starting in a few weeks, up until maybe Nov. I originally intended to just withdraw funds from my CAD account when needed where I would get whatever the CAD to EUR exchange was at the given time. With the economy as it is should I consider opening a EUR account and transferring a bunch of funds right now?

Anyone had any issues living in the US but flying internationally out of Canada? We (English green-card holder me + US citizen wife) live in far upstate NY and it seems that flying to London and back out of Ottawa using Air Transat is the cheapest and quickest way. Are there any pitfalls I'm unaware of? Any craziness with border control between the US and Canada if you tell the that's what you're doing? Thanks.

American here, with spouse. Thinking of moving to Canada within 5 years, but retaining US citizenship (both of us). One of us has quite marketable skills, the other is on disability. Will one of us being on disability hurt our chances?? Where do we start looking to learn about this process? How long does it usually take? What can we do to increase our chances of making this change? Anonymous so that work and a few other people don't find out before we let them know.

I will be traveling from Utah to British Columbia with my family and visiting the area for two weeks. I want to use a GPS and am not sure whether to get 1) a bluetooth GPS receiver, coupled to one of our idevices, 2) a cheap Android phone, or 3) a standalone automobile GPS. [more inside]
I was recently in Canada (from US) and tried to use my debit card to buy some groceries. Two different cards were rejected, for different reason codes. I would have experimented more, but I was standing between a rapidly angering Canadian woman and her beer. I see by Googling that Canadian debit cards use a different network, Interac. Are there any banks/credit unions that issue debit cards usable in both Canada and USA. I know I could've used ATMs and cash, but this would make for a less hassling cross-border experience.

Shipping clothes from Canada to USA: what does the Certificate of Disinfection entail, where do I get it?
I have 2 large boxes of used clothing/shoes to ship to the US soon, and the post office employee told me the volume of items would definitely not pass the border unless I have a Certificate of Disinfection. Unfortunately, this document seems non-existent. There is NO information in Google, answers are always something along the lines of, "Ship it in several smaller boxes!" or "Don't say it's clothing!" which are avoiding the point: I am trying to do this by the book (legally). Does anyone have experience with this particularly evasive document, or parameters that would let Customs determine the packages are okay? Or another way I could *legally* ship the clothing to the US? [more inside]
