Does a wedding planning CMS exist?

I know of many online plan your own wedding sites, but what I'm looking for is one which I can host on a server of my own, probably some sort of PHP/MySQL based affair that will manage things like the RSVP, menu choices, gift lists etc, and also allow me to send emails to specific groups such as "Family of Groom, Family of Bride, Bridesmaids, Catering Staff" etc etc.

Beginner-friendly books on learning various software, CMSs, progamming langs, etc.?

I want to learn PHP, SQL, Flex, Ajax, JavaScript, Joomla, Drupal, and the Adobe CS4 design premium programs (Dreamweaver, Flash, InDesign, Illustrator and Fireworks specifically.) Not all in one go of course, but I want to focus on these in particular. What books have you found to be the most helpful in becoming proficient with them? I have some experience with HTML, CSS and Wordpress if that helps. P.S. - I'm mainly relying on the library/ILL to defray costs, but will buy books if need be. My work schedule prevents me from taking classes.

Which PHP CMS?

I'm involved with an arts festival, and want to use a CMS. I think one (possibly any) of the following would be suitable, to varying degrees: Joomla, Drupal, Textpattern, Expression Engine, Wordpress. (I've deliberately gone for PHP.) Which would you recommend and why? [more inside]

Content Management for Art Students

My sister just graduated from Parsons with a BFA in Fashion Design. I said I would help her with a website, which would basically be an art/photo gallery with a few different sections. Are there any content management systems that would work well for this type of application? Free is good, but I wouldn't mind spending a little money for something really good. She sent a couple links to designers' homepages that she liked [1 2 3 4 5]. Whatever it is will need to be PHP/MySQL (or flash) based. [more inside]

CMS and Word compatible

Looking for some recommendations for enterprise-level (or so) CMS that plays well with Word. A large client list is looking to be able to use a CMS to make website posts (similar to blogging), but they must be able to copy and paste directly from a Word file into the tool, without going to Notepad. Who out there allows that?

Do Content Management Systems really work?

I work for a company of about 100 people whose product is information, but it manages information in a really crappy manner. Nobody knows what's going on elsewhere within the company; often crucial people are unaware of events staged by other departments. We are thinking of getting a CMS to fix this: [more inside]
