I don't have a lot of debt or expenses, so my income keeps piling up in my checking account. Unfortunately, I don't know much about finance or investment. I want to make sure that I don't lose money year over year because of inflation, but pretty much all the CDs and savings accounts I've seen have an APY lower than the inflation rate (which is >= 1.5% according to various websites). I don't care about playing the stock market; all I want is to avoid losing my money through inaction. How do people in this situation keep up with inflation while at the same time minimizing their financial risk?

Twenty years ago I came across an album of twentieth century music and I'm pretty sure it was from some music festival - the Osaka or Ojai festival? - featuring 20th-century orchestral composers. And this particular track featured musical glasses and had "Mountain" in the title.

Here's what I want to do.
1. put cd/dvd in drive of computer
2. rip it
3. software places files in folder structure I define
4. spits out cd/dvd and does it all over again.
Ultimately what I'd like to do is create a digital library of all my music and movies in one central place so my smart tv/computers/tablets/phones have access to the media whenever and wherever.
Please flood me with suggestions. I'm a noob at this.

One of my 17 year old Laserline CD towers broke. The one that broke held 400 CDs and my total collection is somewhere in the 800 range. I need one or more storage towers/racks to hold at least 400, and possibly all of them at some point.
Besides being able to store a lot of CDs, the other feature it needs to have is "slots". Most current storage options for large quantities of CDs, are basically empty shelves for you to fill. My CDs are in a particular oder, so if one is out, I want to be able to see the missing CDs at a glance.
Any suggestions?

CD Ripping - how to break tracks into smaller chunks? itunes or MediaMonkey. I recently got a copy of Stay Awake, a CD of new artists doing covers of old Disney songs, and I want to rip it to my computer. Several tracks are medleys - 3 or 4 songs running into each other as a single track. I know I can rip these individually, and then use a cutting program to make an individual copy of the songs, but is there an easier/automated way?

I am confused about The Doors catalog. There are many versions. I am not sure which is the best. I know "best" is subjective. What I mean is not altered with remixing but simply the best remastered. Or if the original releases are still considered the best. I have the "Perception" set but saw a previous box from 1999 that I've read is better quality. Any input? There are lots of barcode/UPC-lookup sites on the Web, but many don't have comprehensive databases and none seems to take a full list or spreadsheet of numbers and return the product names so I would have a single list. I have a new computer and an old iPod touch. I would like to put all my CDs on a currently blank iTunes program my new computer and then transfer those songs to my iPod touch without interfering with what is already on my iPod.
