I am a known financially developmentally delayed idiot. No really. I hate money. And I want to start a music and art festival on a slim budget and start building a framework to be able to raise funds for it and keep it all clean and kosher and separate while keeping my day job and tax bracket. How do I do this? [more inside]

I am trying to help a good cause that books talent once a year for a fund raiser. They would like to try book John Mayer, the singer, if possible, but need an agent to get in touch with; how do I find the person or agency represent this performer?
I'm looking for inspirational stories of people with a vision they're passionate about, and the work ethic to accomplish what they set out to. Tales that make you come away thinking "Yes, that is how I want to be living my life" and charge you up for the work you're doing. They don't have to be people you'd generally admire or seek to emulate - whatever their goals, it's that spark/drive/dedication/grit I'm most interested in. [more inside]
One client of mine, a wealthy entrepreneur, recently expressed interest in being connected with another client, a local band with tons of potential. Now that I've connected them, he's investing a lot of money into their next album and tour. So where does my cut come in? [more inside]

They're talking today about "Super CD Tuesday" on MSNBC...Why are CD/DVD releases always on Tuesday?
This question got me thinking... Why is it that there are video and game rental outlets (Blockbu$ter, Hollywood, etc) but not CD rental outlets here in the US? Anyone know anything about the license agreements video rental outlets sign and in turn what license agreements one accepts when they purchase a CD from a store? Why wouldn't I be able to rent out my CDs? You'd think in this day of iPods, CDRs and such large hard drives, this would be a killer busines to get into.
I'm giving a presentation on independent music and I'd like to sum up the practices of the
five four major labels. To do so, I want to hand out a nice little visual of all the companies owned by these super-conglomerates. I remember seeing an excellent visual chart with all the branching labels and sublabels, but I've been searching and searching to no avail. Does anyone remember this site?
I was explaining to a friend of mine how little music artists make. I've heard they sometimes only make pennies on every CD that is sold. Are there any graphs or charts, (a pie chart would be ideal) on the internet that show where the money would go from the sale of a CD and who pockets what? It seems like something simple that someone should have figured out and put together, but Google is failing me.
