I'm fast approaching 36 this year and have had a varied career. You could same i'm a jack of all trades but master of none, what with undertaking lots of roles and completing a business degree at 33. For the past couple of years, the job market has been tough. I've undertaken a couple of 6-9 month job contracts as a temp, whilst also experiencing a length period of unemployment. I loved the experience academia brought and I excelled during this journey, developing some great skills. I've just been accepted to do the MBA part time and have been in my current contract 15 months. It is due to come to an end in October but there's a chance of a permanent job coming up that is very well paid. [more inside]

I want to know what the market is for freelance reporters to sell their ability to do stories to radio stations across the country (or maybe in general). I don't know what a reporter might charge for freelancing the reporting, producing, writing and voicing of a story or what would compel a station to hire them And does there exist a collective or consortium of freelancers who have managed to turn that into a business model, like a narrowly focused employment agency or maybe even a talent agency. Does anybody know where I can find data on both?
I have an upcoming job interview for a fairly sales-oriented position in business. Putting aside that I'm not sure I want the position yet and that in my eyes it counts against the company that they put stock in this sort of thing, the company is about to send me a personality test which they use as a strong hiring indicator. I would prefer to ace the test, whatever that means, and have my actual interview and position discussion determine hiring. How should I go about answering a test that I don't believe will be reflective of my personality? [more inside]
How do I find a salesperson? How do I pay them? What kind of freedom do I give them? How can I make it worth their while so it can be a long term relationship? I believe there are people out there interesting in helping me, but I've never been able to figure out how to find them. One man bands do everything but seem to burn out faster, and I don't want to do that. I need help. [more inside]
Four friends are embarking on a creative endeavor, which may turn into a business. We just finished making up a logo and are about to purchase a web domain. How do you determine if you are on an employment blacklist? I have an MBA degree, and I have more experience and credentials than most of my MBA class, but I have not been able to get hired, and the only jobs I've been close to getting are at much less compensation than the average for my class. I interviewed for a position, made it past a phone screen, and went through a second in-person interview. I was told that they would get back to me in one week, but less than 1 day later I get a voicemail saying the company has chosen to go with another candidate. It's not the rejection, but the swiftness of the rejection after initial enthusiasm that makes me suspicious. If you are on a blacklist, how can you find out? And what can you do about it?

My boss has asked me to work on getting our company a contract with the U.S. government's General Services Administration (GSA). I have been doing some research and reading everything I can about it, but I think this may be too big of a job for just me. Does anyone have any experience with working on a contract like this or know of any good resources for help? Anything that any of you can offer would be great. Thanks!
I'm considering hiring a part-time personal assistant to help with research, lightweight QA, and various smaller tasks. I'm an independent developer and technology consultant. I have a general sense of how I would like this to work: how much I would like to pay, what my expectations are, etc. But! I'm having a hard time finding good specific info. What should I expect to pay? What sort of person should I look for? Where should I look? Are their legal or tax implications I'm not aware of? Is this just a bad idea? [more inside]

I'm pretty sure my boss's accountant lied to me about sending out my paycheck to cover up my boss's lack of funds, thus leaving me without a paycheck for a full pay period. [more inside]
