In Rio De Janeiro having a great time but unable to find a map of the local bus routes. I'm based slightly out of town in Barra da Tijuca and would welcome any advice on direct routes from the beach into Copacabana, Zona Sul and the rest. Apologies, my Google skills fail me and I really don't want to rely on Taxi's for something so simple.

I´ve managed to lose my Brazilian tourist immigration card (Cartao de Entrada, i think). It´s two white forms stapled together, which was stamped along with my passport when i entered Brazil at Foz de Iguassu border. What should I expect when I fly out of Rio de Janeiro intenational airport next week? What can I do to sort this problem out?

I'm currently in the last year of a Masters in International Business. I thought that having an internationally-acclaimed economist as my thesis tutor would work out to my advantage. Having not even heard from him in the past six months, however, I decided to take the drastic but necessary step of sacking him. I also changed the topic to Microcredit in Brazil, a subject that interests me far more but instantly poses the problem of having to begin again from scratch. I hope I made the right decision. Anyway, I have to have my Literature Review on my teacher's desk by Monday. Please help. [more inside]

Help me capture the sound that emerges from the countless contacts between Brazil and Japan. I know about artists like Ganga Zumba, Joe Hirata and Tigarah but I'm looking for other recordings to put on a mix for a friend, including field recordings of the Asakusa Carnival or Ryukyu Koku Matsuri Daiko. Have any suggestions?

I am in the process creating a new blog/site aimed at US and European business owners looking to do business in Brazil. I have my past experiences, trials and tribulations to comment on; but, as it is my intention to offer posts geared towards the small business owner wanting to expand or explore the brazilian market; what types of topic would be of interest to you, the current and future business owners?
Note: The blog is not a commercial endevour and is being created with the intention of saving time, money, hairpulling, and headaches for its readers.

Despite the recent corruption scandals in Brazil, for the first time since the 1970s, the country is finally showing signs that it is worthy of comparison with its BRIC counterparts. Inflation, the bane of the 1990s, has finally been largely reigned under control, interest rates have fallen to their lowest in living memory, the Brazilian Real continues to rise against the US dollar and BOVESPA - Latin America's largest and busiest stock exchange - continues to grow from strength to strength.
