Am looking to get a gift cert for dinner for 4, 2 of whom are vegetarian, so looking for somewhere with more than a token pasta primevera or grilled asparagus on the menu. Vintage MBTA rides?

I know the MBTA (or a historical org related to) sometimes hosts rides of their vintage buses and trains. Unfortunately I can't find a schedule online (and most searches for "vintage MBTA" take me to maps and schedules). Any idea how I'd learn more about this?

Help me plan an October road trip from DC to Boston!

We're driving up for a wedding from DC to Boston, and decided to take our time on our way north! What are some fun attractions along the route that we could hit? We'll be driving on 95, past Philly, NYC, New Haven, and Providence. Our interests tend towards the foodie, the wacky, and the scenic. We're open to driving off the route for a ways. Hive mind, what are your suggestions?

Where can I find *fake* banana milkshakes in Boston?

A friend of mine has a craving for a banana milkshake from Steak and Shake. Unfortunately, there's no Steak and Shake anywhere close to here. Specifically, she wants the artificial banana flavor, and weirdly, it seems like it's easier to find real banana than fake. Is there an equivalent available in the Boston area that will help soothe her nostalgia?

What's the least stressful way to get from Western Mass to Boston?

Tomorrow I have a meeting on Beacon St. in the mid-afternoon. I'm coming from Western Mass. I have a car and I'm happy to drive most of the way but I really hate and fear driving in downtown Boston. What are my best options for avoiding that? I'm looking for good park-and-ride locations, mostly, preferrably cheap, that I can take the T from.

Apartment-hunting on short notice in the Boston area: how to proceed?

Due to a whole series of unpleasant events, I am looking for an apartment in the Brighton/Allston/Watertown area on a somewhat tight budget and very short notice — we need to move in by mid-July at the very latest. I just moved here, and don't really know how things work in this area, but I've already come close to exhausting what is listed on Craigslist/Padmapper. What else should I be trying? Custom PC-Builders in Greater Boston Area

Hi MeFi, I am looking for someone or a shop that does custom PC builds. I do a lot of multimedia production (video editing, motion media/rendering, audio production, etc) and I would love to give my money to a smaller shop/person versus going through Dell/HP/etc. I will gladly buy all the parts I need, I just need someone with experience to assemble it all. I heard APC Integrated in Boston is pretty good but they can get pretty booked. Any other spots? Thanks in advance!

Best Pad Thai in Boston/Somerville/Cambridge

I've had a lot of pad thai around here, and pretty much all of it has been mediocre - kind of bland and flavorless. In comparison, I've had mind-meltingly delicious pad thai in Thailand (Chiang Mai and Koh Tao) that was bursting with sweet and sour and salty flavors all at once. I particularly remember the sweet cane sugar mixing with the sour tamarind in an intense, lovely way. Where can I get really really good, authentic pad thai in the Boston area? Public meeting in Boston with parking?

Where can I hold a public meeting for about 25-35 attendees in Greater Boston, with parking? Our group sometimes has attendees drive in from other states, so the usual suspects of city library branches or community centers are often a big pain for folks that need to find parking. Are there free meeting spaces that are near the T for transit users, but with easy-ish parking for car users? This is not for government or political organizing use, rather a meetup around a shared interest. Thank you!
