Can you help me find some audiobooks that are relatively fast-paced and simple, but also have good dialogue, characters, and themes? Even if you don't listen to audiobooks, maybe you know page-turners or beach reads that are deeper than the normal fluff? Or maybe you know good literary fiction that is simple and fast-paced?

My question is very simple. I want to "read" the Brittinanica Great Books of the Western World on CD audio while I'm doing housework.

I need some new audiobooks! I'm a screen printer and find that listening to an audiobook helps me to focus and get more done during the day and consequently, I get through 3-4 books a week. I'll listen to just about anything (science fiction, biographies, western, you name it), as long as it's engaging but doesn't require too much concentration. I've listed my favorites below. Tell me what you've enjoyed listening to and what I've been missing!

Recently listened to Stephen Fry's reading of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy while driving and had a car full of happy. What other audiobooks could provide me a similar experience of delight?

I'm trying to find incredibly boring books. The kind of books that you'll try to read, and can't help but space out. Bonus points if its in the public domain.

Knowing his politics, is there some obscure economic/philosophical reason why China Mieville's books don't have audio versions? Or do I just not know where to look?

I have physical handicaps which prevent me from actual eye-to-book reading. I desperately want to read A Winter's Tale, but I can't find it anywhere on Audiobook. My question is: Is it available anywhere, and if so, where?

I have an abiding passion for audiobooks (concomitant with my hour or so of daily commuting), and it occurs to me that this would be an ideal way to get over my general Shakespearean illiteracy. Can anyone recommend some good Shakespeare recordings? The more compelling the recommendation, the better.

I'm thinking of producing an unabridged audio book (more for the experience than for money). I have a wonderful voice-actress who is up for it. Now I need to choose a book. I'd like it to be fiction and something in public domain (i.e. a classic). What would you like to hear that hasn't been recorded already (or that's been done badly)?
