I'm curious as to some of your favorite fishing spots, whether they are local or they were part of a fishing trip. [more inside]
We are looking for a good way to keep people informed about my dad's cancer treatment. Specifically: I'd like to be able to write posts that are visible on a blog or site of some sort, but that can also be sent to a couple dozen friends and family members by email. I looked at caringbridge, but it looks like there's no way to automatically sign people up to get email updates: They have to sign in and set their notification options, which seems more complicated that we'd like. Our company once had a full fledged marketing department but after years of downsizing we're on our own. Some of my coworkers want to build brand awareness ahead of projects that will be rolling out in the new year. They have the green light from higher ups but no one knows what to do and where to start. How can self motivated individuals learn a crash course in business marketing? [more inside]
I have an idea to review and compare a category of product that is not currently widely reviewed. Reviews exist, but they are spotty and only cover a few items, not nearly all of them. I'd like to do a comprehensive review site. This would involve some sort of crowd funding, as I can't afford to simply go buy one of everything in this category. [more inside]
I'm sure I remember reading some entries from a blog that pithily reviewed games of chess from fiction (novels, TV shows, movies) for plausibility and quality, but I'm coming up with nothing when I google for it. [more inside]
I indirectly oversee someone who forwards a lot of good emails, but it's a lot of emails. I've asked for this person to start using their organization's blog (run on Wix), but it might not be the best solution. Is there a blog platform that will also automate email blasts, with options for frequency of such emails? Bonus points if it works with the Wix blog platform. [more inside]
I'm looking for fashion blogs for inspiration as I'm trying to "dress for the job I want" in a creative field. Think tough but a hint of feminine. O Mefites, who's on your edgy creative fashion blogroll? [more inside]

I'm very new to crafting and DIY, and am getting overwhelmed by the amount of material online about such things. I could really use some help identifying blogs or other resources/keywords to help refine my searching; so far I'm finding lots of stuff but not much that fits my criteria. [more inside]

You guys have given some great suggestions to people for naming their websites and blogs. Can you help me? I'm putting together an online list of eco-friendly places, like permaculture farms and yoga centers, for travelers to visit. [more inside]
I have a personal blog about my day trips to local festivals, museums, landmarks, and whatever else that I think is interesting and fun to explore on the weekends. I live in the USA if that matters. Part of why I'm writing my blog is so that I can improve my skills and confidence as a writer. I'd like to interview interesting people, mostly people affiliated with the places that I'm visiting, but don't know how to best go about this. [more inside]
Metafilter has named cats and dogs, and roller derby babes. This should be easy. On the book of faces I talk a lot about my life with Agent K, my 11 yo with autism. I'd like to move it over to it's own blog and talk about our life, link to interesting articles and products, post pictures, etc. He's always been Agent K and he calls me Muh-ver, Mommy, or Heyshea. I keep a Pintrest board titled Agent K's Awesome board. Any thoughts?
Several (five? more?) years ago, I used to read this guy's daily lunch blog. I just had the urge to look it up again, but I have no idea where to begin finding it! Googling it isn't helping me because there are bazillions of food blogs! Typing "Canadian man food blog ponytail" into the search engine is getting me nowhere fast. [more inside]

I am looking to get a wordpress theme with built-in icons for post types (such as sorbet, but I'm open to using another one to make this easier) to use icons based on categories or tags instead. There is a plugin for this but it doesn't work with the current version of WP and I don't think it's set up to replace part of an existing theme anyway. (It would also be nice if I could customize the color on those bar things too.) Despite my ambitions for awesome blog layout customization, I know very little about CSS and basically haven't coded anything for the web since we all used Netscape Navigator. How do I do this?
Is it possible to make a blog layout like this using Tumblr? Thanks in advance
It seems like there's this trend for (usually senior) professors to have a website (usually completely devoid of any CSS) filled with advice to juniors, strong opinions, and notes on very specific topics. Do you know of any? [more inside]
I started a Wordpress blog a few years ago and then ignored it soon after. This time around I'd really like to create the best Wordpress site that I possibly can. I'm looking for any resources that would help to achieve that goal -- themes, tutorials, podcasts, etc. I'd also like to learn more about search engine optimization and monetization in regards to a Wordpress site. Suggestions? [more inside]
I'm working on making a magazine blog. I started with a template that is pretty awesome, but I liked the effect another theme used to manage the photo and video gallery. Is there a plugin I can install to achieve this effect or is this hard coded into the template. [more inside]
I want to write a blog that invokes the aesthetics and atmosphere of a certain fictional world from a comic strip. In this comic, they live very happily, have a delightful home, and go on many adventures. I'd like to write posts inspired by their activities. I would reference the strip in the blog name, and occasionally include single panels for context. Is this okay in terms of copyright? [more inside]

Ages ago I used to be active on The Forge and it was great for gameplay design/discussion and for actual play reports of niche things. Where did those folk go when it closed down? What new stuff has popped up in the meantime?

As part of hoovering up old blogs and content before more disappear, I'm stuck with the most difficult blog in terms of format; this one (Digital Sands). Is there an efficient way of saving both the posts and the comments to make publicly available elsewhere. [more inside]
I'm starting a blog, and I have this hunch that perhaps a service or program exists out there that allows you to: 1) Write, format, and save blog posts, as well as mark them as "ready" to publish, and 2) Automate publishing those ready posts chronologically onto your blog at a fixed rate or alternatively by selecting a publishing date and time for every post marked as ready. The theory being, I could write as many posts as I want on a given day, but schedule and automate their publishing. Does this sort of thing exist? [more inside]
For many reasons, I think it could be entertaining and educational for me to blog (anonymously, and with identifying details removed) about my experiences as an escort. However, I have a few questions that I'm dealing with. [more inside]

I have a blog running WordPress with the Thesis theme, and the AddThis plugin. It currently shows AddThis buttons at both the top of a post and the bottom of a post (like this). All I want are the buttons at the top, as they appear now. How do I get rid of the buttons at the bottom?
Hey, I'm traveling and I want to start a blog to catalogue my adventures. Just something for friends and family that's a bit nicer and a little more personal than Facebook. Must be free, fairly traditional blog format (not Tumblr), emphasis on photography with captions. [more inside]
I've long been an admirer of linkblogs like John Gruber's Daring Fireball and Dave Winer's Scripting News. I would like to start one on my own. What's the best way to go about doing this? [more inside]
It's a (re)name my blog question. Woo hoo! I created my blog a few years ago to chronicle my explorations of my new home. Almost immediately the focus of the blog changed...but I didn't change the name when I changed the focus. I've finally decided to change the it to something that makes more sense given the current (and future) topic of the blog. Help! [more inside]
So I've Googled and checked out the WordPress support forums about this, but I'm not finding what I want. Is there any plugin that allows WordPress to have a function like Track Changes in Word? I'm talking about within a post -- so if I made edits (punctuation, changing words, whatever) in a certain post, someone else could see them and also accept or reject them. Just viewing the "Revisions" in WP isn't cutting it.
Lately I've been really into the blog Ribbon Around A Bomb, who writes about female-fronted 70s post-punk, Twin Peaks, feminist art, and leather jackets. I also love The Pulp Zine, which is full of teen dreams and high school small town angst, an obsession with Burger Records, 90s nostalgia, black lipstick and pink hair. I'm looking for more blogs that cover punk, garage rock, femme fun, DIY, weirdo fashion, nostalgia, queerness, creativity, feminism, art, and worship of countercultural idols. Basically, I'm a fully-grown scummy punk boyfemme who wants the experience of flipping through a teen magazine tailored to my interests. What other sites would I love? [more inside]

I am really interested in the experiences of internationals (preferably East Asians) learning English and/or moving to the United States. I am in college right now with a lot of Chinese international students, and I am trying to understand what they are going through. I'm also learning Japanese, and I'm curious about what it's like for Asian students to learn English. I'm looking for blogs that will tell about the authors' experiences (surprises, difficulties, etc.) learning English and/or coming to the United States to live. Preferably, they would be at least somewhat humorous. Any suggestions?
Asking for my boyfriend: This will be a blog about what steps I am taking as I learn to be responsible with money, with the goal of retiring early. I will write about budgeting, saving for an emergency fund, figuring out how to invest in 401ks, etc. While this all sounds serious, I am a young guy with a sense of humor. Some ideas I am considering inside.. [more inside]

Due to some nostalgia from my high school days when it seemed like everyone had a LiveJournal, I'd love to start reading more of that type of personal blogging, but it seems a little hard to come by these days.
