Some friends of mine got married last month in India, and they're having a large evening reception this weekend. I know that colorful is the way to go, but all of my colorful dresses are too casual. What I have left is a mostly black dress with a few grey panels, and a mostly white dress with a light blue floral print. Would either of those be ok, or should I go shopping this weekend? The bride had previously said that "a dress you would wear to an American wedding" is fine, and I don't want to pester her asking for specifics when I'm sure she has other things on her mind right now!

New York City MeFi: As a Canadian, I've watched a lot of American media. And from this media, I've become really interested in attending a (stereotypical) "American black church" service. It's stuck out to me as something really unique, something very Americana, and I would really like to be a part of it, at least once. (As for what I mean exactly by "stereotypical American black church", I'm don't quite know the precise words -- black gospel? Southern? Baptist? Was fiddling with the eject settings on my laptop (didn't solve my problem, cd is still stuck in the drive no matter what i do), when I decided to reboot out of ubuntu and disable the drive altogether in the BIOS. Now almost as soon as the BIOS appear, everything goes black, though the computer is still clearly on. Help!

My bathroom has black mold growing at the top of the wall/edge ofthe ceiling.
The wall is white paint over drywall, and the paint has been blistering and revealing thick black mold under the paint/ on top of the dry wall. This area of my bathroom sometimes leaks due to another leaky bathroom being located rght above my bathroom.
My questions:
1. How quickly do I need to take action
2. Can I resolve this myself, safely
3. If I clean it, what chemicals do I use
4. If I clean it, what safety gear do I need (breathing mask, gloves, etc)
5. If I clean it, what are my health risks and can they be easily treated with antibiotics/quick doctors visti?
6. Should I burn the house down and run right now?
