What does Daniel Plainview tell Eli?

What does Daniel Plainview tell Eli in There Will Be Blood? What does Daniel Plainview say to Eli while shaking his hand after being baptised? It doesn't come up on the subtitles.

I've found a few pages asking the same question. This one has a short video of the moment.

An Obscure 1972 Tune (Virginia hold on)

An Obscure 1972 Tune "Virginia hold on" Not too long ago, someone else had asked what this song was on this site. I've also been searching for it as well, so I thought I'd repost the question.

The year was 1972; It was on the radio around the time of 'Summer Breeze', 'Heart of Gold', 'A Horse With No Name' and 'Rocket Man' but obviously wasn't a big hit. I don't think it was merely regional in scope, but I'd heard it more than a few times back then on the local stations in New Mexico.

Here are some lyrics from the last verse and chorus:

When that train pulls around the bend
I know my friends will all be waiting there for me
But my welcome home won't be quite complete
Until I meet the girl I've traveled home to see

Virginia be strong,
For I won't be long,
Virginia hold on.

You'd think the name of the song would be in the chorus line, but this isn't the case from what I've searched. I've searched literally everywhere and still nothing.

Anybody have any clue who did this...or what the name of the song was?

I eat badly and I need to stop.

Help me make better choices, food-wise. I eat very, very badly. I know this. Yet, for some reason, I cannot stop eating badly. Portion size, food type, everything - I cannot be counted on to make good food choices, and I can't figure out why. It's starting to affect my health (I've gained some weight, and I have a family history of high cholesterol, which is getting higher).

When faced with the choice of, say, fast food or a reasonably healthy turkey sandwich, I will almost always choose the fast food - and if I do choose the healthier option, I eat that healthier option in a portion size that all but defeats the health benefit that I would have gained had I eaten a "normal" amount.

I understand, intellectually, the correlation between eating right and health - yet I cannot, for some reason, bring myself to do it. I exercise - I bike to work every day (13 miles round-trip), I go to the gym a couple times a week - but it doesn't seem to help because I can't overcome my food stupidity.

I'm not particularly depressed - I have a wonderful wife, a nice house, and a reasonably steady job, so there's no stress there. I just can't seem to make myself make good eating decisions, so I guess that in itself is really starting to depress me.

Anyway. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can help myself make better food choices? Understanding the consequences of making bad decisions isn't enough - I understand them fully, and yet I still make these bad decisions. I need something...more. I don't want this to become a major health issue, but I fear that if I continue down this road it will.

I'm posting this anonymously because family and friends read askme regularly and I want to start down this road myself, without worrying them. I've also got a throwaway email address (helpmyhealth@gmail.com) if you have any tips/advice you'd rather email.

Help me make a They Might Be Giants mixtape.

Help me make a They Might Be Giants mixtape. Dear Hive,

We all love Flood, Lincoln, and Apollo 18. I've found newer albums a mixed bag. I liked some songs on John Henry, but by Factory Showroom, I gave up.

Now the boy and I love Here Come the ABC's.

Looking at reviews, it seems that there are some great, catchy, quirky songs on newer albums. Please recommend songs for a post-Apollo 18 TMBG mixtape.

This Needs Answered

I went to school near Pittsburgh and now live in Ohio. Both at school and here in Columbus, I notice people leaving off "to be" in sentences. This needs fixed, that neads cleaned, those need washed. What's the deal here? This sounds just terrible to my ears but I can't explain exactly what is grammatically incorrect about it. How can I explain, gramatically, what is wrong with this construction? Also, where did this originate?

passive voice question

He was killed; he got (himself) killed. It was sold; it got sold (possibly out from under me). What sort of semantic difference does using forms of "get" versus "be" in passive constructions convey? At first I was thinking that "he got killed" makes it seem more like a process ("it got dark" meaning not that first it was light and then, wham!, dark, but that it gradually darkened), in which a sequence of events culminated in his death, with "he got himself killed" implicating him in the events' turning out the way they did. But I'm not sure that's right, really, especially with "it got sold". But it does seem that there's a distinction being made: "I wanted to buy it but it was sold to Jones (in the end)" and "I wanted to buy it but it got sold to Jones (in the end)" do seem different (and here I want to say that the second case is more impersonal than the first, that it just sort of magically got (itself) sold, whereas it was sold by someone). I did find this but the explanations seem inconsistent from example to example—eg, we're told that gunfire can't perform an action, much less cause itself to be heard, but books can't perform actions either, much less cause themselves to be torn.

dui dad

I need help from a Chicago cop to arrest my Dad for a DUI... You see, my dad is destroying our family.
Help is nowhere, he thinks he is the victim and blames everyone else.
No Doctors, programs or meds have ever helped.
THE ONLY thing that gets his attention is shame. It has to be from a seperate, third-party though. Like an arresting cop.
He doesn't care about the shame we in the family give him, in fact, it fuels his rage and bitterness towards all of his family.

This addiction has had a grip on him for 30+ years.
I think getting arrested for dui would be a great start towards sobriety.
He drives drunk all over Chicago every other day and will kill someone soon by continuing to do so.
How can he be caught?

I've been listening to an audiobook of Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain, and the descriptions of being a riverboat pilot got me to wondering: has anybody ever released a riverboat/steamship simulator video game?
