Is there a point where it makes more financial sense to backup home PCs to personal offsite storage (via FTP) instead of using something like Mozy, Backblaze, Crashplan, etc...?

I've been a faithful
Mozy backups user for 3.5 years, but they changed their pricing structure such that it is no longer unlimited. Looking for new remote backup services.

I am thinking about signing up for a service like Mozy, but I am just scared to pull the trigger? I have a lot of trouble trusting that there's no way anyone can get to my data. I'm not that important, but I suppose it could be useful to someone. Can someone explain in technical detail why I can or cannot completely trust the security surround a service like Mozy. I asked them, but they say their service is the best and it would never be compromised! Never ever! Ever!

I'm looking for very easy to use Windows backup software that backs up to a remote (FTP or SFTP) site. Essentially, something as dead-simple and friendly to use as Mozy, but that allows you to specify your own storage.
