I recently started work at a company that does a lot of design and manufacturing using AutoCAD and CNC. I'm working in a different department, but since I'm looking to stay at the company for a while and move up the ladder, I figure it would be a good skill set to learn.

Can anyone point me to a solid resource on learning AutoCAD from basic competencies through intermediate and advanced? I'm thinking possibly a college syllabus of some sort?
B) I have a Mac at home, and AutoCAD for Mac, but the company uses PC. Will it be a huge problem down the road jumping from Mac to PC, or will it just be a minor interface change? I'm comfortable with both systems, and could possibly purchase a PC laptop for home use with my training.
I will begin a course in CNC programming/operating in 2 months time.
I want to be as prepared as possible going into it, make the most of the education while I'm learning and have realistic expectations about employment upon completion.
What should I know before I start, focus on during school, and what do you know about jobs available for someone with these skills? [more inside]

Is there a step-by-step tutorial on how to create working construction drawings with Google SketchUp? This must be on the Internet somewhere but after a weekend of searching and watching tutorials, I still haven't found it. [more inside]

I'm using DraftSight to make some circuit diagrams and I am looking for basic circuit symbols in DWG format. I've found a nice collections of circuit element symbols in WMF format, but am having a hard time finding a converter on a decent web site. Decent web site as in one that doesn't look like a malware factory. [more inside]

I inserted a product block into an AutoCAD drawing that I downloaded from the manufacturer's website. I moved it to the layer I want, but it won't 'take' the color of that layer. What gives? [more inside]

I've commissioned someone to create a rendered "artist's impression" of a planned housing development, but he priced it under the assumption that the architect would release Autocad files of the project. It turns out that the architect will only supply PDFs of the building plans. How can I find someone to turn these plans into something my artist can use, and how much should I expect to pay? All I need is the outside of the building, including the grounds and property fence.

I have developed an application in AutoLISP which I would like to re-write in an OO language. AutoCAD seems to natively support VB but I don't think I want to go there. I am starting to learn C# and Python, and like both. How easy is it to link Autocad and C# or Python (or Ruby, etc.)? I am aware of PyCad
but not sure I understand how to get it to work, plus it requires Autocad 2000 which is like requiring windows 95.
In short, I am quite the newbie at this and would appreciate a simple but thorough explanation of how to use a modern programming language in Autocad.
