My wife and I will be in Brisbane, Australia for 5 or 6 days in early October, with our 6-year-old daughter. Any recommendations for kid-friendly fun and/or sightseeing?

My fiancee (soon to be wife) and I are planning on getting pregnant in 2006. Because we are smart people we have discussed the possibility of having the child born in a foreign country (we are both American) which would give him or her the advantage of dual-citizenship.

A good friend of mine and I are planning a trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji in November. We're in our early thirties, like to have a good time, and will try anything once or twice. We will most likely be traveling the east coast of Australia, the south in New Zealand, and finally ending up in Fiji. Where exactly should we go, what hotels should we stay in, what should we do. What should we see in Sydney? Should we go into the interior in Australia? Great Barrier Reef? Other cities? What's happening in Fiji? Any info would be great!

Dogs in Space was an Australian film released in 1987 starring Michael Hutchence of INXS before they cracked the states. It's about a band living in a share-house in Melbourne in 1979. The lifestyle, the personalities, can still be found today, 26 years on. What other movies, despite their fictions, serve as documentaries of lifestyles that will probably remain unrecorded?

I'm considering ordering some relatively expensive gear online from the US, however the suppliers will only ship domestically. Being that I live in Australia, this is a problem. Does anyone know of some reliable proxy operators who will provide a US address for delivery, and then ship internationally? Is this worth the risk/expense?

Which country will cope best with Global Warming over the next 50 years? As an Australian (living abroad), I used to think that Australia would endure the effects of Global Warming better than some more populous countries. But after reading about growing salinity problems, soil degradation and deforestation back home, now I'm not so sure. Are there any sources of information that detail the predicted effects over the course of the next 50 - 100 years for different areas of the world? And even better, I'd be very interested in detailed info focused on Australia, on a state-by-state basis.

So let's say I'm looking for a wine to drink on a warm summer day, perhaps on a picnic. I know there's plenty of whites that fit the bill, but I'm in the mood for a red. I want something fairly light, dry, fruit-forward, and not too tannic. Beaujolais and Bardolino come to mind (in fact, I had a nice Bardolino last weekend which fit the bill, which is what prompts the question)--what else do you recommend, either types of wine or specific wines? I'm hard-pressed to come up with a comparable New World wine--anything from the US or Australia?

I'm headed to Sydney all next week for business, and I'm bringing my 5-months-pregnant wife with me... The problem: we don't know anything about Australia. We're staying at a very nice hotel in the Rocks and won't have a car. With that in mind, can you recommend some things to do? Also, are there any decent online equivalents to the U.S. alt-weekly papers, with current concert, event, and dining recommendations?
