When I turn on my Asus A8Jm (NVIDIA go7600) laptop, I get a strangely beautiful cross-hatching of colored lines. This sounds like a fried video card, right? Luckily, the card is replaceable... how likely is that this is the only problem and replacing the card will fix things?

I managed to trash my partitions today trying to install Vista RC1 and dual boot XP (my fault, I did something stupid). Anyway. Since I'm starting from scratch I was thinking it would be amazing to install Vista, XP & Ubuntu, but I'm not sure I can even do that. My problem is that I'm doing a software Raid (0) of my system drive. I know with my old computer it looked like a nightmare to get Ubuntu and XP to share a software raid and I was hoping maybe things have improved, or that my new motherboard/raid controller might work better now though. Hefty computer problems. My computer (Asus A8NX-E Deluxe) suddenly shut off one day. When I would power it up the fans would run for ~10 seconds -- no BIOS, nothing, then the fans would turn off. PocketPCfilter: My mother and I have the same model Asus 716 Pocket PCs. I tried to beam a file over to hers from mine by IR. Hers asked if I wanted to receive the file, but not where I wanted to put it. It didn't land in My Documents and Find File can't find it. It may still be taking up space and it's not small. Anyone know where it went?
